Its all good. I think if we polled the masses of Live fans.....we'd see the bell curve skewed to the left (old live)

Um, yeah...totally Aitkens. I get the reason for the switch to soft/happy/drippy/sappy.....but as we know the hard core fans never were down with this. the newer fans embraced it, which is fine in the grand scheme of things.......but they fell off the face of the music landscape with the direction change led by Ed.

I consider myself a "hardcore fan" since 1995 and I enjoyed their later albums for the most part, especially Birds of Pray.

Can I just say that when I read this I had a weird moment of going "wow that actually is really beautiful, I wonder where it's from?"

Wahaha, nice one! I had to sing those lines in my head to actually remember!

Nick: Well Heaven was a single whilst Iris never made it as a single. Heaven sold more individual copies and there for is the better song smile.gif

Deumn,priceless post!

BTW remember when they performed Iris in the mid-2000s, and Ed forgot the lyrics. Twas funny as hell but the band tore it really apart and produced a smashing performance

Well I do not think there is any problem with that really. Till i got to know about Ned's exsistance, I considered myself a fanboy as I worshipped Ed and really loved everything Live put out, even SFBM.

As most of the regular posters on this board are aware, I'm a big supporter of recordings of independent origin (ROIOs).

I believe that tapers (video and audio) perform the valuable task of documenting events that would otherwise be lost. Fans who cannot make the concert will be able to experience the performance and people who attend can relive the show.

I've seen my fair share of taping policies and in my opinion Candlebox's is one of the best. Here is an extract:
The full policy can be read here: http://www.candleboxrocks.com/tour-officia...ping-policy.php

Heck ya! to steal your own line Dan, "It's only a memory unless you record it."

I enjoy V a great deal actually. Its an interesting album and at that point Live was still sticking with having each album sound entirely different from the last. I felt that BoP was mostly rehashed and uninspired but overall a decent effort. After SFBM I found myself liking BoP a lot less and really didn't enjoy anything put out afterward.

For me, it was never because of all the love stuff or even a softer sound, it was because of how clearly the band had become all about Ed. The Awake interview, for example, really turned me off.

Anyway, YES, an open taping policy. And how could someone "not care"??

Wtih the tour starting soon, has any one heard anything from teh band on a taping policy? I'd love to get some more TGF recordings.

I will probably upgrade my gear if they have an open tapign policy.

Brian

Indeed, though those things also depend on the venues policy.

Hope they do but I don't plan, have the equipment, or want to spend a concert experience recording it myself.

If they come around west-germany/east-france area, I'll tape them... open-taping or not whistle.gif

Hey, I think you have core sounds low-cost cadioids + rockboxed I-river, right ?
Your recent +LiVe+ recordings were quite enjoyable strawberry.gif

What kind of gear will you buy for an upgrade ?
Most of the stealth mics around (soundpros, microphone madness...) need to be moded so that they can handle high SPLs.

I have both SP-BMC-12 (99 USD mics) and MM-HLSC-1 (250 USD mics). Even when powered with a SP battery-box, I got distortion/brickwalling (while recording levels never reached the 0dB limit).

Got brickwalling while recording +LiVe+ in Munich in 2006, Skunk Anansie in Zürich last year and Nickelback + Theory of a Deadman in 2010.

I now have moded MM-HLSC-1. Haven't used them yet again in very loud situation but I'm optimist nod.gif

My current rig is MM-HLSC-1 (4.7k mod done by Chris Church) > Church Audio ST-9100 preamp > Edirol RH09 and I'm ready for TGF !!!
