QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Aug 6 2010, 6:03 pm) *

If certain Gracious Few fans don't like Ed Kowalczyk or myself for that matter, why even bother to post in threads that have nothing to do with TGF?

I also find it funny that certain fans bitch about me, and complain that they don't want to post on a board that I run or am apart of. Yet even after they convince someone new to open a new board at his own expense, they still can't let FansofLive go. I feel bad that some of you convinced Z-Man to spend the money on creating a new site, one that is basically a ghost town compared to FansofLive.

If you want an Eddie K free zone, go to the Gracious Fans. This board represents all of Live, whether you like it or not.

You aren't listening to what I am saying. I am also a fan of live. I have no allegiance to one group or the other. What I am saying is when you post irrelevant non-news on here you are exposing yourself to this type of criticism.

Does that make sense yet?

There are certain people that do care that the song charted. If others don't care, they should jsut ignore the thread. There are plenty of threads that are meaningless to me, so I just ignore it.

Most people who visit this message board choose not to post. They come for news on Live, Ed, or TGF.

Its like the media today, they are the news by making the news. Total fluff.

Nick wont be a man and point me as the example in his emails. He'll hide behind poliitical correctess.
I am more of a Live fan than he ever is or was. I'll post in any thread I want. Live, Ed or TGF.

I would like to request more people post at graciousfans. We have about 100+ members in a month and a lot of topics. Same ones as here.

I actually think Z-Man did a great job creating the new site, it looks great. I just think that there are certain fans who would rather argue with me about Ed K, than discuss The Gracious Few at their own fansite.

Eddie K sucks. I wouldn't be surprised if 100 people attend his shows; 99 forty seven year old women and Nick.

It represents that now, because you walked away from the ownership. Had it been up to you, ultimately it would have been an EK only board. Hell you were certainly pushing toward it. It took a bunch of us fighting tooth and nail to keep it from that.

Don't even deny it, you short change the contributions and importance of CT, CG, and PD at every chance you get.

Yeah, so I wasn't really trying to make a negative statement about going to Church every week. More along the lines that the Christian music market, compared to the other genres, is pretty small and there is not a lot of cross-over (sure there's some, as discussed earlier), but for the most part, nobody in the mainstream music industry looks to the Christian charts to gauge any sort of success. It is a very locked-in market. You have some bands that venture into it, but the majority of bands who start there don't make it to the mainstream (a couple notable exceptions, but very few) and are only listened to by people who are very involved in religious activities. Consequently, to mainstream marketing executives, a mainstream artist who is charting high (Top 10+) on the Christian chart is an added bonus, but it's nothing to jump for joy about. Christian artists/labels are different, as they are much smaller and their measure of success is also much smaller.

My original comment was more along the lines of he was once part of a major band that charted on the most important of charts. Being #27 on the Christian Rock chart is sort of like going as far backwards as possible. It's like saying a guy that once headlined on the stage at Lollapalooza is now playing on the Kidapalooza stage (oh wait, that's true). It's not a good statistic. If the story was "This legendary rocker has a single called Grace that is skyrocketing its way up the Christian charts... it's up to #5 now," then it might be worth some discussion and would be encouraging enough for the label to throw some extra dollars at the release to keep the momentum. Alas, it seems like its barely made a blip, on any chart of note, after three weeks.

With figures like these (even though Nick likes to tout them as measures of success; they're figures of disappointment), I'm sure the label is about to declare this album dead, domestically. It'll be great for him to sell 50 copies or whatever per show, but as far as the label is concerned, no reason to spend more on him in the US.

It really doesn't matter if he's signed to a Christian label or not. Most major labels have Christian subsidiaries anyways and if a label feels they can make in-roads into the Christian community with a particular mainstream artist, they will work with their subsidiary to do so. If it's a smaller label with no subsidiary, hire an marketing & PR agency that focuses solely on outreach to this community -- which there are a lot of.

If you ignored threads that were meaningless to you then you wouldn't post on any TGF threads.

But you do, don't you?

This is a LIVE site, it has to do with both Eddie K and TGF, Nick, if you think people who like TGF more than Ed should stick to Zman's site exclusively than that just goes further to prove our point that you never really liked Live, you are just an Eddie K fan.

As for the TGF fans "scaring off" Ed fans, that's just BS. I don't have a problem with Ed fans, and I don't think OTD, Aitkens or any of the others do either .. we got a problem with Ed, not his fans. The only fan there's a problem with is yourself Nick. Any Ed fan that's using the excuse of being "scared of bullying" to post here is pretty lame I think, they should just post! We'll probably disagree with things they say, but so what, we're not gonna attack them personally (can be 100% sure of this now that Liverocks is on holidays again). However this is probably just a lie, I'm sure you'd like to believe that if we went away that millions and millions of Ed fans would come here, but they aren't. Maybe like 2...

Nick, I think it would be really good for this forum if you stopped posting here. It was a great step in the right direction when you sold your portion of the site.

All you do, intentional or not, is cause the fan base to go against each other. You have your Ed fan Facebook page, maybe you should stick with that. No one here cares that Ed charted 27th on a fairly irrelevant chart. All that will happen is you getting flamed for posting something that doesn't matter, and you get all defensive about it.

idunno I find it the Christian chart info interesting in a tabloid what the fuck sense. Seriously, how the heck did he get on it
