Did you check under the name Live or in the Christian music section?

I imagine most Best Buys only got a couple of copies, they may be in the back in a box somewhere but if it is at the store then it is supposed to be out.

However, this album isn't going to be effected by its release date or its placement on the shelves. The big, big, big albums have to worry about that, albums like Alive and The Gracious Few are going to be driven by online sales and internet promotion.

If a single takes off for either than you will be able to find the album in tons of places, but not before. This isn't Live back when V came out, the internet has busted the record label bubble and tons of albums are sold online digitally. The music just needs to get to the consumer in whatever form, not just shelf space that is expensive and release dates that really don't matter.

Interesting that you mentioned checking under Live, as there was a misplaced copy of Awake that I put back with the few Live CD's there (1 copy of TC, 3 more of Awake) that brought the idea to search to mind.

I didn't check under Christian music, just under the Pop/Rock section. I did just double-check the Best Buy website and verified that Alive is listed under Pop as a genre. And if it had been under Christian, well, perhaps there are parts of the country where it may have found some space on a rack with good traffic passing buy. However, the outlying suburbs of NYC are not that place.

I agree with you that the sales will need to be heavily driven by online sales and internet promotion. And that may produce just enough sales to warrant the follow-up album they're already talking about. But at some point within the first two albums, I still think they need to find their way on to those prominent racks. Otherwise, I don't think we get a third album.

It's all well and good to talk about how we just want to hear the music for the music's sake. I'd still like them to have a shot at being an actual commercial success with it. Every so often, music comes along that shakes up the status quo, achieving that success despite not adhering to what was in vogue at the time. With every listen, I believe that this can be another one of those times.

It was alive, with a big-ass white sticker on the cover with the live logo in blue bigger than the alive text. The sticker said "from the lead singer of"...then the logo. Just found it amusing is all. and i bought the damn thing

I agree, but there are a lot of artists who make careers and never reach that prominent rack space. It all depends on what the guys' are willing to do for their love of music.

If Ed's got the Live logo on his record, he may have to fork some more cash to C&C&P.

How much money wasted, Wam?

I am still expecting it to arrive to my local shop... It will take a couple of months I figure

I purchased my copy at Borders. Listed under Ed Kowalczyk for $16.99. It was not placed with or near Live's heading.

The $16.99 is money well-spent in my opinion. I voted in this poll as "somewhere in between". Honestly, after listening to it many times, I have grown to "love it" more and more. I would change my vote to the higher rating at this point.

My favorite song on the cd is Soul Whispers. I pretty much enjoy everything about the song. I am particularly impressed with Ed's performance. Definitely the best song on the cd in my opinion.

TGF is releasing their album on one the most crowdest new music release days of the year. They are going to run into the same problem.

Out of curiosity - who else is crowding that day ... or are you just spouting random things again?

Borders is the last place I would ever buy an album. They are always priced over anyone else. This CD lists at $9.99 and you paid $16.99.

Do yourself a favor one day. Go to Best Buy, pick 10 cd's and check the price. Then go compare at Borders. You will shit your pants because of the difference.

Regardless - glad you enjoy the album too.

$16.99 is pretty standard for CDs in a lot of stores, I'm sorry to say. And not everybody lives where there's a Best Buy (which actually often isn't).

Like i said before, September is the biggest new release month. It only will benefit TGF as CD shoppers may be buying other acts, and the opportunity is there to snag TGF. Biggest shopping month for NR's. Back to school, etc. If other big acts are on the shelf, it will only benefit in my opinion. At least I have been privy to this in the past. Summertime releases are the worst.

Here is the list of all cds/records out on 9/14. (TGF is ishaded yellow in the G's)

Weezer, Brandon Flowers, Robert Plant, Thriving Ivory, Leonard Cohen, Crossfade, Trapt, Pantera, Eric Clapton, Linkin Park, Queensrych, Sting, and the Toadies just to name a few.

Alright - did you throw Thriving Ivory in there as a big release because they are opening for Ed and have an album coming out on the same day as TGF? You probably would try to compare them to TGF as a slap just because of the connection to opening for Ed.

There is some good stuff there and they really don't belong on that list.
