My OPEN letter to Nick Options

You are the person who created the thread. When I tried to speak to you on PM regarding it, you basically ignored me(after an inital response). If you have a problem with a person, it is always more mature to try and work it out one on one. You decided to take the route of making a public issue out of a personal matter.

To me that is the very definition of obnoxious.

Nick, there is nothing to say. You asked me to explain myself, i did.
I told you i wasnt going to debate it, because there is nothing to debate -which i why i saw no reason to respond again - it would have been an un-ending chain of PMs - with you asking "why" and me trying to explain. I dont expect you to understand. I dont expect you to agree. BUT what i had hoped was to point out that the message about Ed may not be making to *SOME* people because of the messenger - and that in Ed's self interest, you might try to process that and reflect.

My statements were not definite assumptions, yours were. So yes, I was not.

Bullshit and double bullshit. You've made assumptions about how we'd feel about Ed if Nick wasn't around.

This is true that we all have an extraordinary interest in this band, but I think its still best not to get to the point of emotionality where you have blind devotion or end up making your own conclusions and being so spiteful over things unknown. Or get to the point that one persons opinion is going to reek havoc on your own opinion of the band.

Wreak havoc? No, not even Nick could do that. I still feel the same way about Live that I did before I joined. My favorite albums are still TC and TDTH. I can still listen to SFBM without wincing. I still consider V and some of the utter cheesiness within to be a guilty pleasure. And to this point, Live is still my favorite band.

However, that doesn't mean I haven't become more aware of certain aspects of the music based on the opinions given here on both sides. It's called having an open mind.

I personally know 13 people who quit their subscriptions to Ed's facebook when Nick spammed (yes, THAT is the definition of the word, not the one you thought of posting reviews of how bad Alive is) the subscribers several times a day.

That took Ed's followers away.

Yes. Nick's admining and the way he behaved threw some people away from following Ed.

I think for the most part, when Nick is on Facebook he is delivering official news. It just seems really unlikely that Nick is used by Ed's management to try to spout Ed's opinions on this message board of a few dozen regular people.

And it's still a bad idea, when handling that type of position, to take the varying stances he has taken on here. Just the very possibility of the appearance of a conflict of interests makes it so. Your inability to see it, intentional or otherwise, is not my problem.

I tend to agree with Voodoo Lady on this one. It takes me back to when Live and Collective Soul were touring together and as a fan of both bands I was a member of both boards. Nick would constantly post on the Collective Soul board even though he has said many times that he is not a fan of theirs and there is no doubt in my mind that his doing so turned a lot of people off towards Live. I believe I tried once to explain to him that he was doing more harm than good but it fell on deaf ears as usual. Then he would bitch about how the Collective Soul fans were talking shit about Live but that would only ever happen if he instigated it. Seems like the same exact thing is happening now. It's weird that he has decided to hate on the other half of what used to be Live though. Never could have predicted that one.

I beg to differ. I am pretty consistent with my points and not often contradict myself. You have on many occasions forgotten what you've said in certain debates only to rephrase the arguement. I have to laugh though, The 10 Second Tom thing fits you to a T.

And on Pokey's comments on deleted threads when the deleter is looking silly. The thread where Nick said the TGF VIP contest was a sham and a fake and that I had the inside track on it all along was a total outright lie. So things got sticky and the thread got deleted.

The # 1 example was you calling the Live breakup a sham / hoax only to contradict yourself in a later thread just only last month, then you came around and made an excuse that you forgot you said it.

The idea that we're a collective is insulting. It assumes that we all are of a single mind on Ed both in terms of what we feel about him and to what level. It simply isn't true.
