THAT was the point of the post. That nick's posts are a big turnoff for some people and that negativity maybe transfered to Ed and that is not good for marketing.

Funny. More than one person here has remarked on the peace and quiet that followed when Nick went silent for a bit after handing the reins over to Dangum. The thread dealing with Chad's response to our open letter even had a number of "Ed-haters", as you so like to so generalize us, willing to look at Ed in a new light.

Then Nick had to open his mouth and come rushing to a defense Ed didn't really need.....

What affects Ed more is probably the way some folks here went overboard in hating Ed.

I think my favorite Nick moment still has to be the infamous deleted thread where he made a thread accusing TGF of "stealing his ideas". He sent out a post on facebook earlier in the day asking people to use the suggest a friend button to suggest Ed to more people, TGF did the same later in the day. Nick blew a gasket and said they were doing this as a direct result of him.
It was absolutely classic. You know, not to mention that TGF had done it before that day, or that the fact that there even is a suggestion button didn't make him think that he also wasn't the first person to use it for that reason. I seriously don't know what was going on in his head that day. I took the tread being deleted as a sign he realised how silly he was being which was a step in the right direction.

I must say that as much as people here seem to mostly favour one side of the other, and that there are probably more viscious things said about Ed than TGF, Nick has always been the one to think that there's been some secret war brewing to sabbotage Ed's sales by TGF. Whilst the Ed attacks have been largely kept to just this forum, i hardly think they would be effecting Ed's sales.
I think when it comes to the TGF vs Ed thing on this board, most of Nick's bad mouthing of TGF is a direct knee jerk reaction to Ed being bagged. It's a bit like his defense system. If people (myself included) stopped taking pot shots at Ed, I'm sure Nick would ease up on TGF.

The problem is, the pot shots at Ed, regardless of their level of visciousness (and I'll admit I'm guilty, although I do have limits) all come from somewhere. They're pot shots driven from passion or something, the hurt over a fallen idol or what have you.
Nick's retaliation pot shots against TGF .. I don't get where they're coming from besides the defense thing. His soul problem with TGF seems to be from this "war" he's created inside his own head that I just can't see existing.

He's only one guy, but if you have a trail of ants and you kill all of them but one, it's hard to relax. Even though there's just one little insignificant ant still about you just get annoyed at him still. Nick is the last ant, should he be an issue and even have his own thread like this and garner this much attention by his opinions? Of course not, but he still will.
Nick is different to the rest of the people here who mostly support Ed, mattyeagles, JC and especially Sakhmet2 don't rub people the same way Nick does and their opinions largely mirror a lot of his. So this isn't just a "your opinion vs my opinion" thing.

"importance" is not only measured in volumes, but also in things like "key opinion leaders" - to think that the folks that post here arent important to either Ed's or TGF's future success is delusion at its best.. Diffusion theory posits that the rate of adoption of an "innovation" (i.e., something new) is DEPENDENT on its innovators and early adopters. without them, there is no adoption. and who are the best "early adopters" ? folks like us.. you are doing it yourself.. you said you brought 20 folks to Ed's concert and they bought the CD - would they have done it without you? unlikely that all would have..

You're saying that some of your feelings were influenced by Nick, but that you don't hate Ed more because of Nick, but you are talking about feelings being detrimental towards Ed, which seems to say that they would be feelings of hate towards Ed.

Maybe you can clarify that cause it sounds contradictory.
