My OPEN letter to Nick Options

I am at a loss of words on what to say if you can listen to SBFM all the way through yet skip songs on MJ

For what it's worth, I think there's a better sense of pace to SFBM as an album. After Waterboy, every song on MJ seems to take its sweet time getting started in building up.

I love all of the individual songs. On a song for song basis, I'd take MJ over SFBM every time and twice on Sundays. But there are times when I'm listening to the album that I wish they had changed up the order of the songs a bit.

I have a MJ mix with 3 of the '4 Songs' tracks & Born Branded thrown in my own random order. I too think wish it was placed in a different order.

I can listen to any track off of any of Live's 7 studio albums and enjoy it. I am not able to do that with any other band on the planet.

I also like every song on "Alive" and have listened to that CD numerous times since I purchased it earlier this month. I am pretty sure I will not be able to do that with The Gracious Few's upcoming CD.

I actually like Secret Samadhi quite a lot. First album of Live's that I can listen to all the way through. I especially like Rattlesnake, Turn My Head, Insomnia, Merica, and Gas Hed.

Mental Jewelery is the only album where I tend to skip songs on a regular basis. After Waterboy, MJ goes downhill for me personally. I love Mother Earth, but the rest of the second half of MJ is dull to me.

On Throwing Copper, I rarely ever listen to Dam at Otter Creek, Stage, and Horse. The rest of the album is amazing.

You flying liar! The least you could have done was edit your post so we didn't know you lied!

I think the worst part of that first response was that you seemed to almost be a fan of live and you got to the last part of your post and you had to take a swipe at TGF... I mean come on!! You were so close... just say something nice about Live in a post and NOT attack TGF. It was uncalled for and a beautiful post without the attack.

Nick has fanatical supporters?
A few people step to his defense, but it's nothing compared to the stream of unpleasantness that goes the other way. And I suspect that's just to try and leaven the bile because it's not fun to watch.
If you don't believe that, try actually counting the number of pro-posts vs. against.

First of all I think Nick has straight up blind devotion to Ed to the point of being obsurd. I don't get him and his wierd love for Ed at all. I do occasionally support him when people just straight up are being nasty just to do so.

There are a lot of great people here but in some people on this board are just looking to be negative towards each other, especially if they disagree on something related to the music. It's like they come here to be asses because they have absolutely nothing better to do with their time.

In that regard anything even slightly different than someone's personal opinion is written off as bullshit and viciously attacked for no reason by a few people. Apparently their opinion is the truth and the rest is garbage, failure to understand music, or blind fandom.

I will have to say that in the last few days though it seems to be getting better.

I can skip all of V (with the exception of Simple Creed), a lot of BOP, and a lot of SFBM. The post TDTH era was lackluster to say the least.

I have stated numerous times I've never been a big fan of the MJ album. I love some of the songs, but not the recordings on this album. It just sounds horrible.

For example, listen to Operation Spirit from the album and then listen to it on MTV Unplugged. Now that's how the song should sound!

the original intent of my letter to nick was simple. to communicate to nick that he does indeed push certain people's buttons- call em/me fanatical or whatever, i dont care --- and that his behavior pisses some people off and that annoyance is transfered to Ed, and how can that be good for Ed?

it became ever clear that this was what was going on for ME when Nick disappeared for a few days, and i found the intensely negative feelings towards Ed (hate is not a nice word!) softening a bit - only to have it return when Nick returned with his fanboy posts. I'm not the only one who noticed this (Pokey, me thinks said the same thing)..

ALSO- it became incredibly difficult to process Chad's first blog post on Ed, with Nick spouting off- never thought of it before, but its possible that "rash of ridiculous Ed hating assumptions" were exacerbated because of Nick insistence that Ed can do no wrong.. and his out right refusal to acknowledge the emotional hurt Chad talked about.. in fact Nick's comments on Chad typically focused on diminishing his credibility ("grain of salt" comments stick in my head)..

The fact that she was able to verbalize what many were thinking speaks very well of her. Nick's ridiculous comments combined with his position, official or unofficial, as Ed's P.R. guy handling a number of Ed's Facebook posts, very likely did hurt Ed's image and sales where some on this site are concerned. I know they went a long way in doing so for me.

well, i'd love to see if somebody can pull together one or two quotes where Nick is being in direct contradiction, especially in terms of reality itself.

i found it odd how a handful of people got so nutty about Nick

I doubt Nick made any Ed fans into haters. I'm pretty sure the Ed haters here, like yourself, would not have stopped hating Ed whether Nick was posting or not this past year. Its only a handful you guys here anyway, Nicks contribution doesn't really affect too much. What affects Ed more is probably the way some folks here went overboard in hating Ed. Its Nicks job to promote Ed and nobody gave Nick a manual on how to deal with these overly-wounded people making assumptions.

I normally just skip over the Nick rants, but I believe there were tons of them. Just wanted to see some quotes where he was especially ridiculous in peoples eyes. Feel free to bring up any of our previous circular conversations and I have no problem laying out where you left off.

as in i'm not giving ed a fucking penny.


and - i wont promote Ed's album to my sister, also a live fan - who most certainly would have bought ALIVE if i shared something positive with her about it.. so there you have it, 2 sales out the window..

THAT was the point of the post. That nick's posts are a big turnoff for some people and that negativity maybe transfered to Ed and that is not good for marketing.
