It's funny you mentioned that, with Nick's absence I felt the same way, like things would settle, but once he's back he makes a completely ridiculous statement and fires everyone up again. He has a unique ability to frustrate. If he were an X-man that would be his power, to completely bewilder people with ridiculous comments.

It is true that he is unwittingly doing Ed harm by the way he blindly defends him. He does remind me of a politician or spin doctor. If Nick were a political figure of a party I had resentments about his handling of himself does himself no favours. How often do you wish a politician would show a bit of character or personality and not give a cliched answer? How often have you thought "it's a shame he isn't more personable?" ... I find myself thinking that all the time when they just bunker down into their defensive shell and refuse to act like a human being.
This is what Nick does.

This is why I've repeatedly said it's a shame Nick doesn't join in on conversations that have nothing to do with sales or charting or marketing. Seeing Nick make a post on a thread about an old 1995 bootleg that's been uploaded showing his excitement would be awesome! Seeing Nick relive his first Live concert experience purely from the point of view of a music fan would be great. But we never see these things from him. Maybe a conversation about lyrics interpretations like the one recently about Sparkle ... nope, nothing.

outtodry is probably the biggest spruiker of TGF, but that's not all, he can join in conversations about things that don't have to do with promoting TGF or TGF vs Ed, this is why he is viewed differently to Nick. Because we know his passion lies with the music and that's why it drives him to spruik.

The big one to me was when CT posted that amazing blog, that truely was epic. All Nick could think about was how it might hurt Ed's reputation and sales. Who the FUCK thinks that after reading such an emotional and interesting insight into their apparent favorite band? Why the fuck is Ed's financial situation the most important thing to come out of that? The majority of Ed related content in that article was positive, and anyone who decides not to buy Ed's album based on that blog is an idiot anyways. The article wasn't about hurting Ed, hell the letter Dimitry wrote never even mentioned Ed ... it's not a fucking TGF vs Ed thing, it was about the history of Live's recording. The fact Nick couldn't appreciate this and join in with everyone else as we were digesting it was just astounding ... and this is his "favorite band".
Being a fan of the band is about the music, and everything CT posted was about the passion and situations behind the music, where it all came from, where the emotions and recordings were born from .. it's the sort of shit that if you're a real fan of the band you'd be eating up. Not to Nick, to him it should be kept private to maximise sales or something, probably because he read it in a book. Sad.

I shouldn't care so much, and certainly once I press the little x in the top right corner of the screen my care factor for it hits zero because there are much more important things in life than Nick's annoyance. But it's just a shame the guy is a complete robot and can't show some personality and passion for the music and the band and the bands history.

Has it ever dawned on you that you might be doing Ed more harm than good? That the negative emotions you manage to evoke here might very well be transferred to one’s feelings about Ed? And if so, how can that possibly be good for “marketing?”

Some may think that we are absolute tools that do not have their own opinions, as Nick's stupidity ruins our perception of Ed, but... hell... how can anyone simply follow the guy whop has THIS as an online promoter...

Not to get personal here, VoodooLady, you have done it very, VERY right.

In the past, when I read Nick's posts, I just thought Ed was his favourite LIVE member. But in the last 6 months or so, I have realised that he is just not a fanofLIVE.

It used to quietly annoy me that someone would suggest that BOP and SFBM are amongst the best work LIVE has produced, because not only are they lyrically poor rock albums, they are totally un-LIVE-like. It became even more annoying when he tried (and still does) to defend Ed's actions and responses, even when he didn't need to.

I don't know Nick, so maybe outside here he is great and a nice guy and what have you. But on the boards, he has an extremely one-sided opinion and outlook on LIVE related events and material. It is sometimes quite scary.

Thanks Pokey. Simply yes, about the music. Thats all I ever cared about with Live, once the little realities revealed themselves over time in regards to their internal problems, I knew all too well that Live wouldn't be immune to what happens to a lot of bands. All I ever wanted was good music from the boys from York.

I spurik TGF for pretty much the sheer musical efforts alone and to celebrate the other 3 guys rebirth to what they love to do. Yesterday I told Sean Hennesy that his solo in Crying Time was legendary to me. He replied to me that it meant quite a bit to him to hear that. Most people know that he's still trying to become a known performer in the rock scene. His inclusion into TGF, to me is perfect!!!!

I watched the Club Babyhead video last night in my hotel room and was totally driven to awe & excitement of the raw talent these guys were back in the early days.....the emotion on stage is simply all there for one to see. Everytime I watch these older videos, especially that Jones Beach Copper show I posted, it's sheer magic. This leads me to Nick.....he can't partake in embracing this time era of the band simply because it doesn't mean anything to him. I'd like to make him get chained to a chair and watch the thing to see what Live was really all about. Force him to really see why we revered Ed and why Live's music meant to us. The newer stuff is not about them, it was really about one person. We know the real story with all that. Even with the younger Live videos, we can see incidents of onstage friction with Ed. It's been stated by a lot that Ed is a difficult person. That being said, it would be nice to see Nick talk about the music and not sales positions, money and riches. I wont comment on the political analogy that Pokey touches on.......that may hit too close to home for Master Yoda.

Yeah do tell us why you're no longer posting for Ed?? I reported on that over a week ago. Perhaps he saw what was going on here with your blind faith and not a lot of substance.....and he ran the numbers hmmmmmmmmmm???

I noticed Nick wasn't posting for Ed. Interesting, as he seemed to be doing a good job. Would be interested to hear why...

What's with the Nick obsession anyway? It seems like nobody can decide who they hate more - Nick or Ed. Well, for me it's easy. I hate them both. And I hate the rest of you fuckers. And your moms. Except for Pokey's mom, who is a total MILF. I'd tap her.

"Can I get you something?"
"Yeah...what do you have on tap?"
"Coors, Rickards Pale, and Pokey's Mom"
"ZOMG! Freels???"

Man, my "mom" would ruin your shit, I'll swap you, my mum for your red head girlfriend, deal?
Also, you'll have to fight Zman for her.

Also, this is why "Ned" was coined, there's no point trying to split Nick and Ed, they're one in the same.

its like the evolution, revolution love video, where ed keeps pulling off his face to reveal tricky, then tricky pulls off his face to reveal ed.

Face......OFF!!!

I'm still a moderator on his Facebook page, and am able to respond to fans in threads etc.. However, if Ed is the one making the actual posts it is way better than if I am. It is just hard because he is only one guy, but he's been doing an awesome job as of late.

Nick frustrates for the same reasons he bugs everyone. I had been rooting against Ed all this time because I want him to hit rock bottom and finally come to the realization that he's screwed up royally. However, with Nick, I want more pain and suffering for Ed. I want Ed to reach the point that he's actually offering to play for free at local township fairs, only to be turned down. I want him to be stuck playing open mic nights at local coffee shops, just hoping to sell $100 in cds each night. Then and only then will I be happy, because at that point there will be no other option for Ed but to finally wake up. He'll see just how far he has fallen, how he's alienated his band mates, his friends, and most importantly his fans, the ones that once blessed him with wealth. At that point not even Nick could spin it in a positive light and he might actually wake up as well.

Cheers for the response, I get that - much more personable if the actual artist does it himself

Nick, Respond to this. It is the single most important paragraph in the thread. Are you a fan of live or are you a fan of Ed?

I was a fan of Live since 1995. The first time I saw the "I Alone" video on MTV, I was hooked on the band. I have always been a fan of Live's message in their music. The themes of love and finding a deeper meaning in life were key to me. The second time I saw the band in concert in 2001(Atlantic City-Trump Taj), I became even more of a fanatic.

I can listen to any track off of any of Live's 7 studio albums and enjoy it. I am not able to do that with any other band on the planet. I also like every song on "Alive" and have listened to that CD numerous times since I purchased it earlier this month. I am pretty sure I will not be able to do that with The Gracious Few's upcoming CD.

So I am a fan of Live, but Ed is clearly my favorite member of the band.
