The official adding of Grace occurred two weeks ago on numerous stations. Before that it got sporadic airplay on certain stations.

Did you really expect Ed to sell out mid-sized arenas in Australia without being part of Live? Ed and the rest of the guys are going to take a hit now that they separated. My guess is that he plays a theater/club tour in Australia, and as a fan that is a way better place to catch a show.

Live wern't even playing the arena's they used to in Australia the last time they came down here. They're more popular here than in the US for sure, but their popularity here isn't what it used to be even. Your average joe still doesn't know who they are beyond "that band that did the loytneen crashes song". It's little wonder Ed's album did nothing here beyond sell to a few people "in the know", trying to pretend anything otherwise is pointless, and putting all the blame on the record company when their popularity even with the Live name was already dwindling isn't gonna work either.
I'm sure Ed will have venues picked that will be most appropriate to him when he plays here, but I also think that if Live does a reuion show and comes back here that it'll be at the same venues that Ed plays at, possibly even TGF too.

For Melbourne anyways, The Forum would be great, it's the best venue in town sound/atmosphere wise, it's where he played at last year and I'm sure will come to again. Hopefully TGF go there too, although Hi Fi bar or something might work. Even Festival Hall would be too big for either act.

You only get free shipping with Amazon during certain points of the year, and you usually have to buy at least 25 dollars worth of items. So buying The Gracious Few's CD solo, should not get you free shipping.

But OTD bought multiple copies and netted free shipping in the process, which is where this conversation started.

The point is, you are talking out of your ass a lot on this thread. Just because you update Ed's Facebook doesn't mean you understand the music business.

I've actually read a lot of books on music promotion and understand more than you would think.

The hiatus is a positive because the guys are doing something different and having fun. When Live gets back together, their batteries will be recharged and people will be excited for a reunion. This break probably should have happened post V. That is what Bush and STP did after their releases in the 2000's underperformed, and now they are both running reunion tours that have fans excited.

Whoaaaaa, so you're saying that LIVE will get back together? You sound so sure of yourself! I for one hope that you are right but only if they do as you speak "recharge thier batteries" and start writing as a group and not just playing what Ed tells them too. That is the only way they will ever get back together. Otherwise it will be pointless. If Ed never comes back from his so called enlightening pahse then LIVE will never get back together. I do wish they had done this after BOP though because maybe now we would see them getting back together instead of 3 to 5 years from now. If that happens at all!

Even if the band never writes together again, a reunion tour should happen. However, I think Live has at least one album left in them.

You should read some books on music as an art form rather than a marketing tool. The way you talk about music is like someone who talks about sport without knowing much about it. You have your favorite team (Ed) and you support them blindly because you like the colours they wear ... you don't really know much about the game but you like looking at the stats at the end of it. If a player from your team fouls an opposition player you'll defend it with your life, if the opposition player fouls your guy in the exact same way then you'll scream for blood. You don't appreciate the on field game plan, the athletic ability, the passion of the players, you just view the whole thing in the most simpistic black and white way.

I will give you that you do know a bit about music promotion, but really in the end, so fucking what? What brings the majority of us here is the love and passion of the music, not how it's promoted. That is a very small and minor part of the experience as a fan in the overall picture.

But if I enjoy the promotion aspect of music, is there anything wrong with that? I enjoy the actual music, and I really enjoy finding ways to bring that to more people.

To each their own.

It seems to be about all you care about as the only things you can say about the music itself just seem ... off, like that it "really rocks" and such. You can barely or don't at all join in conversations about past or old Live experiences when it has nothing to do with marketing or promotion, never see you getting excited over a great new or old concert which shows up... unless it's strictly to do with Ed or Live post 2003 or a pre 2003 single you just have nothing to say. It's a shame is all. I think a lot of people would find your talk of promotion and "bringing the music to the people" more tolerable if you actually seemed to be a proper passionate fan of the genises of what you were promoting.
Again with the sports analogy, it's like you say you like a particular team (Live) but spend all your time promoting and focused on only 1 player of that team (Ed). Never at all the teams past glories or memories, the other players abilaties or their previous great games. If a thread started up in the Live topic titled something like "your favorite Pat moments" asking people what their personal favorite performances by Pat have been, either in studio or live .. I gaurantee you'd have nothing to say.
Like you say, each to their own, but it's a shame and when so many have been so passionate about the whole package for so long, it's no wonder you get viewed differently to most others here

I'm just glad that you weren't a super fan like most of us in 1995 when Throwing Copper went #1. You would have creamed your pants and died of a heart attack looking at all of those chart positions.

I'm sorry, I forgot that the Gracious Few's CD is going make double platinum in the US, and Crying Time is going to be a top-40, Grammy award winning song(according to certain fans on Facebook and FansofLive).

Why does everything always come back to TGF with you?

Books, schmooks. You should find a local band you like and offer to manage them. You will learn much quicker that way.

You can hardly promote anything if you do not know a shit about what you are promoting.

Sorry to even be bothering you with this, but without ANY Live fans in Russia during this summer I got a bit under 100 people into TGF.

What did you do apart from fucking spamming Facebook?
