I'm sorry, I forgot that the Gracious Few's CD is going make double platinum in the US, and Crying Time is going to be a top-40, Grammy award winning song(according to certain fans on Facebook and FansofLive).

Yeah, it's going to sell 10,000,000 units this year alone! They're bigger than Zep!!

Nick, you bet me that I wouldn't purchase 20 copies of TGF. I already did half. I am thinking up ideas for delicious crow

I lowered the Amazon sales rank from 30,000 to 5500 lol.gif

Your 10 copies from Amazon probably netted the band around 50 cents to split. A dime a piece, good work!

And it has been the #1 rock album on Australian Itunes for the past week.

How's that possible? Alive is not rock.

I just want to hear more about what Indie bands do, since you know, I don't manage 2 of them and I haven't toured in them for 10 years of my life.

And just for the record, I don't give a damn how TGF's record charts.

well considering it cost .20 cents to make a cd with a jewelcase & booklet, and once it goes to distribution it goes up to 4 bucks, by the time the retailers get their cut it's 12 bucks in price. The band normally gets 1.50 or so for royalties on an album. So I made them 10.50 in profit already. Perhaps they'll make more since they are lower overhead and an indie label.

Not sure where you get your info, oh glorious one. I used to work in that industry.

If you had bought 10 CD's directly from the band instead of Amazon, you would have given them nearly 100 dollars in profit instead of roughly 10 dollars(according to your estimates).

The only thing that I would correct in this is that the retailer has to charge over $11 to make a profit in America. CD profits are very, very small for retailers. So, the kick back to the band occurs before the retailer gets their (very small) share.

That's why local record stores have to charge 17 bucks for a new album.

Very good point. The indie record stores have to charge more than the best buys' &Virgin' & HMV's

Oh really? 10 dollars eh? Is that what the table accountant at Ed's shows told you? Is Levin there ringing the cash register? Better check his books.

I don't think the profit is high, there other costs /overhead associated with all of that.

So you're comparing a state in the US with a population of under 800,000 people to a country in Europe with a population of over 16 million?

Ok so how about the New England states then. Population roughly about 15million. Does that make your pussy hurt a little less now Nick! I think people got the point here of the statement. It was n tongue2.gif ot meant to be a geography lesson!
