I'm not at all shocked. I've maintained from the time I heard the album from the link Nick provided that I could not understand how any reviewer thought Ed was being subtle.

And if that's what he wants to do, fine, good luck to him. But if he thought he was fooling anyone who was actually paying attention to the lyrics, well, then he was truly the fool.

compared to other Christian songs on the radio, Ed isn't even close to most of them in terms of worship.

The most positive thing is that most of Ed's album sales came from his website and at shows(both were not reported to soundscan and not reflected on the charts).

Also:

In its third week:

27 in Holland
82 in Belgium

Why weren't these reported?

Why weren't these reported?

Because only 100 people were at the shows and only 14 of them bought the album. 3 of the purchases were Nick.

I agree with you that he likely doesn't go as far other Christian songs in being explicit. Still, he's a long, long way from being subtle.

Yep, see my previous post in this thread:
http://www.fansoflive.com/forums/index.php...indpost&p=68757

This week's Billboard chart positions:

Christian Albums #28 (drop from 6 last week)
Heatseekers Albums #14 (drop from 4 last week)

Alive doesn't seem to be in the Billboard 200 anymore...

Its going to be tough to stay on the charts without a single or any record label promotion. The only way it could is to actually have some great songs and be spread word of mouth. I do like Alive but its nothing great and unfortunately for Ed there is only one Nick in the world. He can only buy so many albums. Not enough I guess! shrug.gif

In the US, they are mainly using Alive as a touring tool. Grace is going for radio adds only in markets that Ed has a show, and the song is being used to promote his upcoming appearances.

Alive was never expected to be a force on the US charts, and I never said it would be. Ed has sold the majority of his albums through his website and at live events. Neither are reported to soundscan.

Used as a touring tool. That's so sad. Regardless of my personal stance on the album, it's sad if he's making albums to be touring tools and not as stand alone pieces of art, totally diminishes what an album should be and once again you see it as just a means to make money. An album should never be used as a "touring tool" by an artist.

Ed totally believes in "Alive" and the best way for him to get the album heard is by selling it at shows. It is probably a big reason that Ed stays his concerts and signs each album that is purchased(and anything else you like).

Very few artists today make any money from album sales. It is all about the tour.

So you're comparing a state in the US with a population of under 800,000 people to a country in Europe with a population of over 16 million?
