In My Time of Dying is one of my favorite Zeppelin's, but I agree, not for everyone!

Damn that Zeppelin is brilliant. That clip makes me ask myself whether Live is my favorite band. Page and Plant together were unparelleled magic. Who could rivet you to his guitar like Page? Just wow.

Anyhow, Crying Time is excellent. I love the song and it reveals itself more and more every new time that you listen to it.

Nick, your posts on this message board have now become the turd in the punchbowl. You are like the character Dr. Evil on Austin Powers. You're a caricature of what you think you are. It's gone past irritating to just funny. I could take you seriously and even possibly consider what you state, if you demonstrated even the slightest bit of deviation from your unwavering, unidirectional, unconditionally-blind, loyalist. monotone drumbeat of Ed-centric promotion, and self-congratulatory, half-assed music industry knowledge.

I couldn't have said it better myself Funky. Nick is simply that.....the big white elephant in the room.

Now Zeppelin, no one can hold a candle to their work. It's the standard of delta blues infused rock n roll.

no no I meant that the song I was thinking of wasn't a good one. The zeppelin one I quite like, but that wasn't what came to mind.

QUOTE(Pokey @ Jul 22 2010, 5:29 am) *

eh not to rain on the parade or anything, but I've been listening to the track on and off all day and I'm actually inclined to *kind of* agree with Nick. instead of growing on me I actually have found it kind of boring already which is strange. I do see what he means by the verses being pretty great, I love the bass on them, and the song does kick into gear at the breakdown where KM is howling. But the chorus doesn't quite have the kick it needs, I don't know if I really like the term "crying time", it's like another song by a band I really can't remember that used the words "dying time" ... the imagery of there being a designated time to cry or die doesn't quite fit right. I know that's probably being a bit pedantic, but just not a fan of the way the term is used. I liked Nick Cave's "the weeping song" title better, as in a song to weep or cry to, not a specific time.

However, unlike Nick this is based purely on my taste, not what would make a great radio single or what will appeal to the masses to maximise sales or song length or whatever bullshit is thrown about. Hopefully it'll grow in me more but I'll put Honest Man, Tredecim and Appetite above this so far.

After reading NIck's and your opinion about the song i played the song loud in my car. This is how i understand how good a song is. I really do not hear what you are hearing. The song is excellent, the hook is there, it is very melodic and the melodyis instantly memorable.

HOLY SHIT ED, look what you held back all these years! Your loss MR. K!

def not trying to be negative here but this song will not be a "hit" in the terms your saying..its going to be very tough for any TGF song will gain radio momentum, as we learned with Honest Man....Still, ive loved all three songs and the material, on the whole, is def better than Alive (which I happen to enjoy)...

Yeah I think those who concern themselves with "hits" are really missing the point of this album.

That said I'd love for one of them to surprise me and take off.

Speaking of, wonder when that VH1 vid of Honest Man will come out? I guess closer to the album release.

I have to say out of the 3 tracks Appetite was my favorite. That song is really good.

I feel like they're going downhill by releasing these. Each one is worse than the song before it. They should just keep it all under wraps and put out the whole as an album when it's ready.

At this rate we'll have half of the album before it even comes out.

I don't really see the problem with that. It isn't 1994 anymore and many bands have done far bolder things.
