Crying Time blows every track away on Alive by a longshot! I even love Soul Whispers and Zion but it cant touch Crying Time. This song is a hit! Alive has none! Even Grace which I like but its not a hit song.

If Crying Time is a hit, I will buy TGF's album. First, it is very hard for a second single to pick up steam after the first single doesn't carry momentum. Second, no one has announced Crying Time as a single. 3rd, the song is good enough, but doesn't really have a great hook and is about 2 minutes too long to be a single.

You're a freaking moron. I forgot that all good singles can only be 3 minutes long. Just a retarded idea.

By the way, Lightning Crashes is 5:25, I guess it needs cut down as well.

Comparing Crying Time to Lightning Crashes is a complete joke. Lightning Crashes builds to an emotional climax, better than any song I've ever heard. The song is an undeniable classic. Nothing on Alive or The Gracious Few's debut approach the song's greatness in anyway.

A single has to be 3 minutes, I'm just making a statement based off of your music industry rules.

Holy shit ... are you actually judging a song on it's musical merit for once??

In order to be played in heavy rotation on most stations, a song should clock in at around the 3 minutes mark, yes.

Crying Time could easily be cut down a about a minute so a four minute single would work. Take off the intro and fade out for radio only and it would work. And as for your failed first single, well, no one really heard Honest Man so no one would really know the difference. And I have heard many songs released off an album coming out on satellite radio that were not actual singles but just a track a dj decided to play. Crying Time would work if people figure out who TGF are.

If these have to be the rules I'd prefer them not to touch or alter the song just to appease people with short attention spans.

Yes, for your shitty no talent pop songs. The reason for that is because pop fans are too retarded to pay attention to anything over 3 minutes.

It costs an indie band a lot of money to get a song on the radio and Honest Man was released too far in advance of the album release date. It actually was doing decently on the Active Rock chart, but to maintain the momentum for 4 months was a lot to ask. TGF is going to have to spend even more money to get a second single on the radio, and honestly it probably isn't even worth it.

The payoff for limited radio play isn't worth the cost in most situations for an indie band.

Didnt TGF get signed recently though? Or was that just a distributor deal?

Nick, I have it on good authority that your knowledge of the music industry is pure schlock and you should stop with the propaganda you spew. You never phrase your answers with 'in my opinion', you throw it out there like your fucking Howard Stern or something.

Bullshit. All I have to do is look at my personal collection, look at those songs that have gotten heavy rotation in major media markets to know that you're full of shit.

And on this particular point, you're not just full of shit, you're so full of shit it's coming out your ears.
