Well I get all your points, to go for totally unheard stuff. At the otherhand we just all know that Hold me Up is fuckinnnnng great, and we know nothing about the awesomeness (is this an English wordn btw, Ray? smile.gif) of the unknown tracks. That said, Hold me Up is probably by far the best of all non-album tracks and can easily match a lot of (praised by many) albumtracks on TC. When you realise that, shouldn't we have such a song in the best quality possible? Just saying wink.gif

Maybe if we're lucky we'll get a CD containing Vine Street and Sun (Loop Version) wink.gif

QUOTE(Merica @ Jul 16 2010, 7:54 am) *

To be honest, given that we've already a fairly decent attempted master cut by someone (who did it?), I personally think it'd be better to get a demo/studio cut of a song we haven't got in any form.

But let's debate it for a bit, and see what we think. And I'll add you to the list next time I revise it. smile.gif

I would agree if that re-master was actually good enough quality, but IMO it isn't. Not to take anything away from the person that attempted to remaster it, but if you put the track on a playlist with proper studio tracks, it stands out as being very poor quality. I think, and apparently many others, that it's such a great song. The Mall Rats and Photograph tracks, allthough much higher quality, haven't gotten nearly as much play by me. I think we can all agree that a "Hold Me Up" studio will get plenty of playtime. An unreleased song, could in theory, not be that great.

I get what everyone is saying about Hold Me Up. I'd love a studio cut too, but if push came to shove I'd rather have a cut of something we've never heard before, just because we DO already have Hold Me Up in some form. But, I could swap the Hold Me Up line out of the middle and stick it in the main list. Thoughts?

--------------------------------

Dear Chad Taylor,

On behalf of the worldwide community of your fans we are writing to you to reveal our gratitude for the years of tremendous music you have offered us, and for the many years still to come with The Gracious Few.

All through these years of dedication we've done our best to follow you, be it seeing you on stage, buying the records or simply enjoying bootlegs from the shows all over the world. We think that we proudly possess nearly all the recordings that you've taken part in. However, since about 1996 we've all heard about several songs that are either only available in obscure, low quality form - or only appear as legends, and we don't even know that they actually exist. This is why we have decided to write to you; we have a request. If they do exist, we sure are dying to know about them. We don't want to ask for the impossible, like a studio quality cut of Hold Me Up; we want to learn about the little known tracks like New City and Pop Vortex. So whether you can tell us more information about them, or even be able to send us a version of these rare tracks - we would be ever so grateful to you.

Both the members of FANSOFLIVE and WhereFreaksTalk message boards (which both are the fansites since 2001) made a list of what we have been dying to hear for years. It includes...

New City -- We know that there is one version circulating, but none of us have ever heard it.
Wash the Blood Away -- Does it even exist?
Change -- We know this exists, but we only have a low quality version.
Pop Vortex -- Once again, we don't know if it exists in recorded format!
Pat's SS demo -- This was mentioned in the FOL newsletter and has us licking our lips.

We would be incredibly happy to receive anything that you may be able to offer us. We hope this does not sound too upfront, but you seem to be the only person in the entire world who can help us with this, and we decided that now is as good a time as any to see what could be done about this. You don't get if you don't ask, right?

Thank you very much for reading this, and in advance if you do decide you can help us in some way. Good luck with TGF. We can not wait for the record in September!

Please, greet the rest of the band for us.

Faithfully yours,

Hey, if by some fucked up lucky chance they happen to possess recordings of ass-old tracks like Don't Title On Me, All Is Crazy On the Action Front, Governor, and the other old one with the word "blue" in it.....those'd be nice to hear. Even if the recordings are shite, I'd still love to hear them.

Merica, the letter sounds great. This may just be the editor in me coming out, but I think you could take another pass at it and tighten it up a little.

I'm concerned that if we send something too long that he may not bother to read it at all, ya know?

Just a thought, might be a stupid one! I know I missed a lot of the thread so feel free to ignore it.

Also, I'm okay with having my real name (and nickname) on there.

I agree, very much so. Need to be tighter, and get to the "request" part sooner. Don't need to dilly dally around how much we love and support him. He's read all that stuff a million times over.

When you finally do submit it though, could you credit me as "Swami, King of Canada"?

What's your opinion on what thefunkyredcaboose said about making it tighter, and then my follow up thoughts of introducing the "request" sooner. We don't want to be all flowers and kiss ass, but we do have to tell him how much we love his work, or else we're being rude. lol.gif

What do you think?
