Nice written letter guys. Like it very much!

3 little ideas:
* maybe we can put - at the end of the list - a question is there is any stuff we haven't even heard about (with the explanation that we found out with radiant Sea and Beautiful Invisible that we surely dont know every title or song).
* asking for Hold me Up? I know that the list contains only songs so far that most of us haven't heard ever, but I gthink Hold Me Up is (from the demos we know) is the most wanted).
* don't know if it would add more to the e-mail's strength, but maybe we can make links of the names to every user-profile on this foard (or the Freaks board), so he can see a little more about every poster and the fact that some are very regular posters with +1000 posts).

just some ideas!

1. Well that is something already mentioned in some way...
2. Hold Me Up? You still do not have Hold Me Up? smile.gif
3. No use at all.

1. Should definitely put something in there about songs we haven't even heard about, I agree. Citing RS and BI would be good - good thnking.
2. Could do, yeah. I wouldn't expect us to get it though, just because it's been used in a film and it seems it might be tied up in some more legislation or something than a track like New City would be. Might be talking out of my arse here, not sure, but do you see what I mean?
3. Would be difficult considering it's going to be sent via Facebook Message or email or something. If we did it here it would be in BB format, which might not convert well to other places. That and, really, he probably wouldn't have a look at too many of us, and it shouldn't make a difference how many posts we have. So I'm not sure on this one.

Good ideas mate. Keep them coming people!

We agree on stuff, yes! Also, I don't have Hold Me Up. I have an attempted remaster that someone did which is pretty great, but I don't have any full on studio master cut. Do YOU!?

I'm in. and i agree with asking for hold me up, but maybe in a cheeky way. preface it with "we dont want to ask for the impossible, for example a studio quality cut of Hold Me Up, but these other tracks that exist in live folklore..."

Mentioning Hold Me Up, I would think, adds weight to the letter and shows how utterly ridiculous it is (without actually calling the situation ridiculous) that some of these tracks never see the light of day. Here we have something that was in a fricken movie and they couldn't even put that out??!!

Maybe I'm just a tab more spiteful than Chad, but if I were in a band, and this shit was pulled on me, I'D quietly leak it to a site like this one just to stick it to whomever decided it wasn't good enough to make the soundtrack release.

But, my emotions aside, it really is worth making the list.

Anyway, the letter is looking better and better either way.

Dear Chad Taylor,

On behalf of the worldwide community of your fans we are writing to you to reveal our gratitude for the years of tremendous music you have offered us, and for the many years still to come with The Gracious Few.

All through these years of dedication we've done our best to follow you, be it seeing you on stage, buying the records or simply enjoying bootlegs from the shows all over the world. We think that we proudly possess nearly all the recordings that you've taken part in. However, since about 1996 we've all heard about several songs that are either only available in obscure, low quality form - or only appear as legends, and we don't even know that they actually exist. This is why we have decided to write to you; we have a request. If they do exist, we sure are dying to know about them. We don't want to ask for the impossible, like a studio quality cut of Hold Me Up; we want to learn about the little known tracks like New City and Pop Vortex. So whether you can tell us more information about them, or even be able to send us a version of these rare tracks - we would be ever so grateful to you.

Both the members of FANSOFLIVE and WhereFreaksTalk message boards (which both are the fansites since 2001) made a list of what we have been dying to hear for years. It includes...

New City -- We know that there is one version circulating, but none of us have ever heard it.
Wash the Blood Away -- Does it even exist?
Change -- We know this exists, but we only have a low quality version.
Pop Vortex -- Once again, we don't know if it exists in recorded format!
Pat's SS demo -- This was mentioned in the FOL newsletter and has us licking our lips.

We would be incredibly happy to receive anything that you may be able to offer us. We hope this does not sound too upfront, but you seem to be the only person in the entire world who can help us with this, and we decided that now is as good a time as any to see what could be done about this. You don't get if you don't ask, right?

Thank you very much for reading this, and in advance if you do decide you can help us in some way. Good luck with TGF. We can not wait for the record in September!

Please, greet the rest of the band for us.

Faithfully yours,

Add me to the list, and I too believe that "Hold Me Up" Studio should be on the list, just that track alone would make my day not to mention the other unheard tracks.

To be honest, given that we've already a fairly decent attempted master cut by someone (who did it?), I personally think it'd be better to get a demo/studio cut of a song we haven't got in any form.

But let's debate it for a bit, and see what we think. And I'll add you to the list next time I revise it. smile.gif
