How many names do we want? If we can't get them, would it be worth just resigning the end to...

Yours Faithfully,

FansOfLive
WhereFreaksTalk

... and maybe then listing names after to make it look more impressive. I don't know. lol.gif

Nice idea. We need a list of nicknames for sure, and the links could also be nice. I gave it all a shout at the Russian post grunge community so maybe a couple more will also be added.

Fuck... those typos....

Sooo? Thoughts, brovas?

"Greatfulness" should be "Gratefullness... I think.

It definitely adds power to have as many sigs as possible, IMHO... and on the tail end of it, for anyone who hasn't been keeping up with this thread or forum, but would want to be included, you can add to the signatures: "and the overwhelming masses of fans who have supported you and have petitioned to hear more of the music you've been inspired to create since you started making records" (or something like that).

Finally, 2003... that's nothing. Fans have been clamoring for unreleased stuff since AT LEAST 1996 (I should know... I was one of them)... and at their Stone Pony show in '98 previewing their TDTH stuff, Chad Gracey *promised* me that all of their unreleased stuff would come out 'eventually.'

Anyway, this is a great idea and a solid letter. One thought I'd add to the letter if I could is that we know that CCP are appreciative of their fans, but it's human nature to only see things from their own limited perspectives. And we know that if CCP truly realized how much we wanted and would appreciate this... and how inspiring their work has been to their fans, even (or especially) on songs that they didn't think would be received well (Chad Taylor had to be convinced to keep Operation Spirit on MJ), we know only then would they not hesitate to try to figure out a way to get this music out to the people who have supported their creative endeavors for over 20 years.

drewgood, nice points, but 1996... I am speaking of the internet community for sure. So I remember those legends started arising back in 2003. In 1996 hardly anyone had an inet connection and for sure some of the guys were not into Live back then.

Nice points thopugh, as stated, I think that it is also cool to add those words in the loners. Thanks a heap!

Glad if I was able to help in any way. The whole 1996 thing is just me going back as far as possible to add as much impact as possible. I think some of us go back to the Live-Web days, so even if '96 is a stretch, you can most assuredly get away with '98... if you go to archive.org and look up live-web.com, you can even read internet postings of reviews of '98 shows that make mention of New City, etc.

I'm all for going back to 96, and adding the "overwhelming masses" line. smile.gif

Correct it this way, Ray, adding the new nicknames?

I'm in, and I've been a fan since 1994. I remember the Live.cerf.net days, followed by Live-Web.

Dear Chad

On behalf of the worldwide community of your fans we are writing to you to reveal our gratitude for the years of tremendous music you have offered us, and for the many years still to come with The Gracious Few.

All through these years of dedication we've done our best to follow you, be it seeing you on stage, buying the records or simply enjoying bootlegs from the shows all over the world. We think that we proudly possess nearly all the recordings that you've taken part in. However, since about 1996 we've all heard about several songs that are either only available in obscure, low quality form - or only appear as legends, and we don't even know that they actually exist. This is why we have decided to write to you; we have a request. If they do exist, we sure are dying to know about them. We want to learn about the little known tracks like New City and Pop Vortex. So whether you can tell us more information about them, or even be able to send us a version of these rare tracks - we would be ever so grateful to you.

Both the members of FANSOFLIVE and WhereFreaksTalk message boards (which both are the fansites since 2001) made a list of what we have been dying to hear for years. It includes...

New City -- We know that there is one version circulating, but none of us have ever heard it.
Wash the Blood Away -- Does it even exist?
Change -- We know this exists, but we only have a low quality version.
Pop Vortex -- Once again, we don't know if it exists in recorded format!
Pat's SS demo -- This was mentioned in the FOL newsletter and has us licking our lips.

We would be incredibly happy to receive anything that you may be able to offer us. We hope this does not sound too upfront, but you seem to be the only person in the entire world who can help us with this, and we decided that now is as good a time as any to see what could be done about this. You don't get if you don't ask, right?

Thank you very much for reading this, and in advance if you do decide you can help us in some way. Good luck with TGF. We can not wait for the record in September!

Please, greet the rest of the band for us.

Faithfully yours,

I wonder whether it might be an idea to put some of the notable names at the top of the list? Like dangum, for example. Might add some extra weight, or? And should we put in our real names for an extra dab of officialism?

Food for thought. smile.gif

Good letter! I wouldn't put in real names, just leave it as it is.

I made a list with names due to the posts in this thread without any sense of weight. You know, I doubt that Chad will be impressed by, say, seeing the admin's names at the top... I do not mind it though... Simply see no point in that.

And with the names... I know some of the people here will not enjoy flashing their real names... I do not mind it either anyway
