Working out sort of destroys the muscle, which is a signal to your body that you need more muscle. Then you need to eat and sleep well, to provide the body with what it needs to grow those muscles.

Thats what some here have been saying, but apparently there is more to it and sleep isn't as direct a factor?

Hahahaha, what the fuck!? lol.gif

Seen Wam's actual picture and damn it all if he isn't actually a cool looking chap.

Also, this topic has been interesting to read through. Anybody know a good diet for a broke-ass gym attending student? Preferably one that includes leeway for Subway sandwiches....

So today is my first day trying out this Atkins thing.. for breakfast I had scrambled eggs and some bacon, for lunch I just had some packed ham and for dinner I'll be having a grilled chicken breast with spinage .. pretty bland, i don't mind so much but I'm trying to come up with similar ideas like this I can eat, I don't mind eating really basic stuff like this for awhile but variety in it would be nice ...

question though, how long after starting does the body go into Ketosis on average?

Here's something I think people might be interested in, and I'm wondering what Exs thoughts are on this.

Hundred Press Ups Program

Looks kreally interesting, and considering I don't have any real weights or a gym to go to, this could be good?

There's also one for sit ups and squats. Links in the side menu for those.

If you're gonna do a 100 push-ups or 200 squats, you're training your stamina, not so much pure strength and mass.

Just got back from a 65k ride. Let's just say I'm pretty much done for the rest of the day lol. I deserve a couple cold ones today.

It was a slow ride. Very windy today (I fucking hate biking in the wind).
With a few breaks and a stop to buy a fucking map cause I got lost out in the middle of nowhere. Lucky I found a gas station.
4 hours. Was disappointed with the time (I felt I was gonna get around 80k) but the wind slows you down a lot.
After 5 years of not really riding I just started to get back into it this year. Gotta lose that beer gut haha.

The 100 push ups thing can't be bad. As was mentioned above, it won't help improve your bench press ability, however you will definitely get bigger and improve muscle mass. Improving your ability to bench press is more about modifying neurons to recruit myocytes differently than it is about causing the myocytes to get bigger, although both happen. With sustained push ups, you will indeed make your myocytes bigger (you will be bigger) and you will therefore be stronger, but you won't change much in the way of recruitment. I never got the impression that your goal was to get massive or bench 400 pounds, but just to get a little bigger and more fit, which this would accomplish nicely. I'm sure our resident physician Bre can fill in the gaps.

You see I was quite sure this was the case but just wanted to confirm with you. lol.gif

Thanks for the advice though, I definitely think I'm gonna give this program a go. Also considering the sit ups and squats programs, but I think the push ups is my most desired area to work on.

Too predictable. Can't win one argument so you shift the focus. I haven't been in a classroom for over 2 years and I don't tolerate idiots with no credentials spouting off health advice in real life, either. I have always been, and will continue to be, the man. hi.gif
