QUOTE(FishOutaWater @ Jul 13 2010, 2:02 pm) *

Unfortunately, as a Live fan, I find it difficult to look at the upside. Because this was my favorite band. And I looked at Ed as an inspiration. And I expected better of Live. The way it ended, and the tarnish of the character of someone I admired, and the giant poop stain on Live's legacy, makes it hard to walk away from it clean after what went down.

I can only imagine how difficult it must be for lifelong friends to come to terms with the pain and betrayal. I'm sure there were some sleepless nights and feelings of anger to be contended with. I know people who have been betrayed and stolen from by firends, family and girlfriends and it's difficult when the feelings of betrayal set in. I don't know how Chad can move on to healing and forgiveness, but I wish him well with it. And I totally disagree with those who begrudge CC&P any expression of their feelings about it out of some blind loyalty to Ed.

^^^ This. All of it. Every single word.

Bravo, once again, Fish. thumbsup.gif

Good for Chad for realizing a few things:
1) The public venting was a mistake which he regrets.
2) That Live needed a break anyway.
3) The 2 new albums are definitely an up-side
4) Healing and forgiveness are a part of life.
5) He owed an apology to the Live community for venting the way that he did.

And for all you Ed-haters who just love to jump on the fact that Ed doesnt ever publicly acknowledge the facts around the break-up, please take note. He's taking the right approach.

I was ok until number 5. He doesn't owe anyone an apology, especially not the Live community.

If Ed's continual, habitual lying are the right way to go, then I sure as hell don't ever want to be right.

Chad's words, not mine: ( I made a huge mistake venting in a public forum and I deeply regret it. I am sorry to the legions of Live fans that frankly deserved better. )

Lying is never the right way to go. I made no mention of Ed lying/not lying. Just pointing out the irony of the Ed-haters jumping on him for not talking about the details of the break-up (he obviously has sound counsel). And then here comes their Saviour CT apologizing for... talking about the details of the break-up.

Ed's silence IS golden, as he's keeping his end of his business where it belongs. Whoever put the leash on him for that deserves a bonus.

This will get settled, and we here at FansOfLive will have not a clue of the outcome.

By not ever mentioning his former bandmates' new project, even going so far as to say he has never listened to it?

By getting clearly agitated when an interviewer asks him simple questions about the break-up?

That is the "right approach"?

And, as OTD said, if you wish he had never written the blog post then you clearly weren't wondering why the band was splitting like most of us were.

You're under the mistaken impression that I agree with Chad on this. Unlike the blinded-by-Ed people, I don't agree with everything that CC&P have to say.

Of course you didn't mention Ed lying/not lying. That would bring up the possibility that he may have lied which is obviously verboten in your mind.

Nothing I've heard from Ed has convinced me otherwise. The 5 part video interview made him look even worse.

And you'd be mistaken to think I wasn't pre-disposed to give Ed and his music a chance. I said early on I would likely buy the album. However, I may have to revise that opinion based on what I've heard from the album as well as from Ed.

Of course it should not have written. It makes your hero look really, really bad.

No surprise that it's a no-no in your book.

He never wondered because in his mind, Ed is still +Live+. Thus he loses nothing by Ed going on off on his own.

I was hoping that these 30-something year old men were smart enough to not air their dirty laundry in public.

Chad realized that the way he provided the answer was wrong. He apologized. Good for him.
