QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Jul 11 2010, 10:42 pm) *

The reactions for Lightning Crashes, I Alone, and All Over You were off the charts. The crowd actually sang the first chorus for All Over You, and I don't think I've seen that done in a long time.

How can you honestly gauge a reaction by youtube videos anyway that are basically only showing 20 fans. The video of TGF in York showed a totally dead crowd, but people in attendance said the show was rocking.

One would think the people in the front row would be the biggest supporters and be the ones most likely to go nuts. Apparently Ed's crowds work in reverse.

My vids don't lie, they ROCKED to a a pretty much near sold out show! And i taped the crowd as well.

Post please. I'd love to see more crowd shots that didn't involve just the deadweight front row.

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Jul 11 2010, 10:27 pm) *

The crowd was as strong this past Friday as it was for any Live show that I've seen at the venue. We even got a Heaven sing a long which I haven't seen for quite some time.

The people actually at the show are raving, the TGF fans who are watching youtube videos are bitching. Sour grapes.

People actually want to do a sing-a-long to Heaven? Amazing.

Sour grapes over what exactly?

That wouldn't surprise me in the least. I'd be one of them.

That Ed is actually getting positive reviews at his concerts, and that he drew strong crowds all 5 nights of this tour. It seems that the most fans in attendance thought the new band did a great job.

Ed also sold a ton of CD's by sticking around after the show and signing each and every copy himself. So the shows were successful in all respects. The tour in the Fall is positioned to do very well too, overseas and US.

I would've been content to take your word for it all until the videos were posted. What I've seen so far stands in direct opposition to what you've said.

No sir, not sour grapes, just the facts.

The facts you weren't there to judge crowd size, audience participation, or album sales. You're just trying to stir crap. The crowd participation wasn;t bad at all on Grace and Selling the Drama by the way on the videos.

I hope Ed goes well and I don't doubt the shows were enjoyable.

Having watched eds band cover LiVE songs as both a drummer and a guitarist I can tell you it is just not the same - an adequate replacement? Well that's up to the fans. Personally I'd rather here CG murder the skins on WD & LJ and thrash the cymbals on LC and TDAOC, not possible to do while smiling. This is emotion in music, hard for kids to understand today but without it Lakini's Juice sounds how Eds band does it.

For the songs Ed is doing it would be very sad for Ramy to feign anger thru out in order to look like he's serious. Smiling along to happy music only makes sense.

However; in my opinion these guys younger, fitter, handsomer or otherwise will never replace LiVE.

Didn't judge crowd size, just the pathetically stiff front row. Strike one.

QUOTE
audience participation

The portion of the audience that was visible was pathetic. Can't speak to the rest. Didn't do so. Strike Two.

or album sales.

One more thing on which I didn't comment. Strike three. I'd say you're out, but I know you won't just go away.

You'd prefer I let the turds you keep dropping just sit there and bake, eh?

We've gone from great crowd reaction to not bad at all. Congratulations on downgrading your own crowd report. Or maybe in that delirium you call a mind, they're the same thing.

That is fair.

I don't think they are trying to replicate the anger or intensity of Live. Ed and his new band are trying to have fun by bring an energetic show to the fans. I had more fun in Sayreville and NYC than I've had at a concert in a long-time.

I love how you judge musicians and you're not even one...LAUGHABLE!!!

Are you a musician?

Why doesn't Ramy have a tremolo in his left hand, if he has, why doesn't he use it?
How come does he have 3 toms and hardly ever hits them?
You were at the show? What kind of hardware does Ramy use? Howcome I only hear a half-opened hihat while I am sure he has two rides and a splash and a crash there?
Where's the 1/64 drumroll?

Huh, MUSICIAN?
QUOTE(CrashIn2Me6945 @ Jul 12 2010, 5:46 am) *

Very true...I actually like the little, subtle jams they put throughout the "Live" material.

Subtle jams? You like their subtle jams? Ever heard the 9 minute version of The Distance??? Subtle jams...

I beg Nick to turn this board into an Ed only board, or to shut it down. So long as it has ties to Live then shit aint gonna quit.

Speaking of shit, doesn't dangum count? He's an admin, so it's kind of his too.
And what about the rest of us who don't think that a Live board has to equal a let's-crap-on-Ed board?

Srsly, Poke, the lurkers and newbies are noticing that the arguments are on replay. Why don't you radically change position, just to shake things up? lol.gif

Nick always LOVED to underline that it was HIS board and Dangum was only in charge of technical aspects, at which SJN is simply a nil.

That does not make him less of a fucking liar for sure.
