That statement right there is what separates you from objectivity. The dumming on Alive is piss poor & produced to make it sound ok.

To say Gracey has no personality on stage......that is utter shit. All drummers are responsibile for keeping time. Gracey drums to his own style and it has plenty of personality. You haven't watched anything from 1990-2000. All the Ed show sounds is so subdued, which allows you to say this. Ed was responsibile for caging CAG!!!! nod.gif

Please put down the crack pipe Nick.

Chad Gracey is an awesome drummer, but Ramy has a much better onstage personality. He actually looks like he is having fun during the show. He sings a long during the songs and is all smiles throughout the entire show. Ed actually interacted with him(and the rest of the band) quite a bit.

The atmosphere is a lot lighter and more fun for these shows than it was for Live. Things aren't taken as seriously, and the crowds seem to be really loving it. Just a different experience.

Ramy Antoun has much more personality on stage than Chad Gracey ever had. The Live songs that the new band is playing sound just as good as they did when Live was playing them. There really is no drop off in sound at these shows at all. I found that most surprising, because I expected the new band not to sound as good, it just isn't the case.

To anyone wondering why I keep repeating myself, it's when complete bullshit statements like these comes out. You have no appreciation of music at all if you think these session players are on the same level as the TGF guys. So Ramy might smile more, what the fuck is that? No wonder the atmosphere is lighter .. these guys are just happy to have regular work, Ed is getting all the money .. winners all around. CG, CT and PD were probably bored out of their mind playing the same damn songs all the time without change .. but I'm sure that's not Ed's fault.

The sound for the Live songs sounded just as good with these"session musicians" as it did with Live. I'm not saying that Pat and the Chads aren't talented, because they are. I'm just saying that these new musicians are doing an excellent job performing the Live and Alive songs.

Youre point was to say Gracey has no personality on stage. You have a bone to pick with CG becasue he called your beloved Ed out.

Ramy Anotoun has shown more personality on stage in two shows then I've Chad Gracey seen Chad Gracey show in 45. I'm not saying that Chad Gracey isn't a strong performe because he is, but Ramy has more charisma on stage.

I'm sure they're doing a passable job, but to compare them and say there is "no real drop off" compared to a group of musicians who have been playing for years and years and created some amazing music over the past 20yrs is laughable. Have they at least stopped playing that god awful attempt at Lakini's Juice? That was a prime example of the difference between the 2 groups. You don't seem to have any love or appreciation for music Live made before 2004 unless it was a single, so I guess it's no wonder you can't tell the difference. I can't tell the difference between a $10 bottle of wine and a $500 bottle of wine .. it all tastes the same to me, but that doesn't mean there isn't a difference, I'm sure there is and I'll just take people's word that knows what they're talking about that there is a difference. I might still enjoy the $5 wine about as much as the $500 one, but there's a reason it has it's price tag.

It's because he's a creepy looking bastard I'm sure, the guy just demands attention when you see him, lest you turn your back on him. I'd rather CG putting in an awesome performance musically than see Ramy smiling and doing "bum dum ching" jokes with Ed.

OMG Nick! What did C, C & P ever do to you!? They were way MORE than session musicians. Do you forget who actually started the band? I heard the guitarist from Ed's band do All Over You in the Wrat studio and I thought it sounded bland. bomb.gif

There should be a noticeable drop-off, but I didn't see it at the two shows that I attended. The fans I spoke with after the shows were also very impressed with the new band. They stopped playing Lakini's Juice, but the rest of Live's material sounded excellent this week.

Fair enough, it's not your fault you can't hear the difference, but there is one, a big one.

Perhaps, but I'm betting a good percentage of the crowd does not notice a difference sonically. Some will miss the guys from Live, other are happy because the new guitarists are younger. My friend liked the new band better because and I quote "they are cuter."

Most fans at a show are not professional musicians, they just want to hear good music. Ed K. with his new band is doing just that.

I've played music but am not what you'd call a professional musician, and I certainly wouldn't call that good music, you don't need to be.

But that's ok, I guess it's all Ed K can be left with, a crowd that can't tell the difference, if they could they'd not be there, which they're not, so that makes sense. Not being able to hear a difference isn't a testament to the new band though, it's just an undeveloped ear by the listener.

I didn't call Pat and Chads session musicians, I said the "supposed session musicians" that replaced them sounded great.
