Alright, I was listening to Grace yesterday and started wondering if the song was actually a subtle message about the rift that devleloped to the rest of Live that is now The Gracious Few.

Was wondering what others think.

According to him it isn't, I'd actually kind of like it more if it was. Would be some balls behind it in that case I'd think. I actually don't outright hate it until "thank the lord up above" line comes into it. So even though I'd disagree with it completely, I think I'd have more respect for it at least, which I know is completely contradictory, but still.

Ed was interviewed recently on radio (July 7, 2010 RXP 101.9) and he explained the meaning (or one of the meanings) of the song. It was inspried by the Haitian earthquake.

No it wasn't. He recorded Grace and Stand earlier this year in a collaboration with Gregg Wattenberg. He's mentioned that in recent interviews and I remember him mentioning that he was recording new songs earlier in the year in either his blog or twitter.

I corrected my statement after looking it up. Thanks for confirmation. My BS meter went off as the Overcome thing came to mind.

Except of course now we now that he never said that he recorded Overcome for 9/11. Methinks the BS metre is malfunctioning.

Grace is the song on Ed's new album that makes you say "OK, maybe this won't be that bad."

Then you listen to the rest of it and you feel cheated again. He lures you with a decent sounding song while the rest of the album makes you want to pull your ears off and throw them to the dogs.

That's pretty funny considering Grace sounds a lot like the rest of the album. I don't see how you could like Grace but not like Drive, Stand, Zion, Rome and Soul Whispers. And Eat Your Love and A New World are good too.

I like The Great Beyond a lot but it does sound different from Grace.

I really like the album so there is atleast 1 that doesn't need to rip his ears off and throw them to the dogs.

I didn't say I liked Grace. I said it isn't that bad. Which means it is only a step up from bad.

You've echoed my thinking on this. Because of Grace, I was willing to give the rest of the album a chance initially. Yes, I was pissed at Ed, but then there are plenty of artists in both music and film who I detest while still admiring their talent.

Thanks to Nick, I had the opportunity to hear the entire album streaming online. I quickly changed my mind.
