Just a little clarification, if I was going to choose a favorite member of Live it would probably be CT. He brought the energy to the band, IMO. But each member brought something different that made the band so great.

QUOTE(Pokey @ Jul 11 2010, 3:34 am) *

I can understand people liking it, everyone can like anything really, but it never stops blowing my mind when I see some of the things that Nick writes. I guess I keep hoping in vain that something will get through to him, but it's like talking to a plank of wood, I guess you're right. I should take a page from Ex's book and just go banana.gif

Pokey, I'm sorry bro but I too feel youve become repetitive and bland - ironically like Ramy's drumming. I seriously had to check it was you and not Mr.McPheezy on some of those posts. You are harping abit.

I remember coming to topics to read almost exclusively what you had to say about music but it is now almost all negative...and yeah I get the whole Ed fanboy thing but I'm over it and am just interested in music from Ed and TGF now.

How do you define the criteria upon which u judge Ramy drumming ability or his chance at rocking out? Ive never made a record but I believe I can rock out. Because I don't love morrissey or own a 40piece kit does that mean I too am unable to rock? Seriously let it go already mate Nick loves Ed and is defending him as a result of the criticism leveled here some fair some not so.

I miss what you used to post funny and knowledgeable opinion based on fact not a polar opposite to what nick believes.

Maybe I need to reinvent myself, I'll go solo and post the exact same stuff as I have been!

To answer your questions, Ramy is a very 1 dimensional drummer, he isn't interesting to listen to .. I'm just not sure how Ed is so content with him after having Gracey as a drummer, who I'll admit I think there are better drummers than Gracey out there .. but CG had a style of his own which was very identifiably "his" .. maybe part of that comes from him being self taught, I'm not sure. I think Ramy could easily be replaced by a drum machine.
It's not about having a Dave Lombardo style 40piece kit, and it's certainly not about being anything Morrissey-like when it comes to drumming (besides his current drummer he's had a history of some really awful drummers, I'd pick Ramy over Dean Butterworth that he had for about 4 years .. awful).
I find it just quite amazing that Ed was surrounded by such amazing musicians for so long and now he's taken such a step back, surely you'd be spoilt by choice at that point and not be able to settle for anything less?

You're right, I have been repeating myself a lot ... it's just that Nick and Ed continues to blow my mind with some of their comments. His complete pig headedness is hard to ignore at times, I guess when I made a few comments about how he completely ignores so much of Live's body of work and seemingly has no interest in anything Live did pre 2003 unless it was a single .. I was hoping he'd set me straight and come to defend his love for Brothers Unaware or TBD or Freaks .. then at least I would have a bit more respect for the guy who bought a fansoflive website, but it hasn't happend. I'd just love to have seen him join in when something exciting like those great old bootlegs were posted, but it didn't souly focus on Ed so he didn't give a shit. It's frustrating. You said I'm posting the polar opposite to what Nick believes ... that would be what I believe .. Nick just seems to be about the most opposite of me as I can come up with, I'm not doing it to be a dick to him or being like a politician and damning everything he says, I believe he is wrong about 99% of the time he says anything.

But in the end, i shouldn't care, if he loves it he deserves it. I guess once it sinks in with what a fall from grace (no pun) the EK has then I'll be at peace with it. I literally felt sad listening to Alive, it's emotional and as Dimitri has said, it sucks being labled as an "Ed-hater" when he's someone you held in such high regard for a long time.
You're right, I'll take a step back.

An amazing show. It blew last years's Live show out the water with intensity. Last year, Live was going through the emotions, this year Ed and the new band seemed to actually enjoy being there. The crowd was in the 1000-1300 range, if I would guess. The fans there were really into the show and were singing loudly to all the hits. It ranks as one of the best shows I ever been to period.

After the concert, Ed met any fan who wished to stay and signed CD's and took pictures. Just a total class act.

Right!!! Doesn't occur to you that he's manipulating your idiotic ass yet again does it??

The man is staying and signing for everybody to try DESPERATELY to garner new fans with his fake ass bullshit. He no longer has LIVE'S name so he HAS to be nice. Nothing whatsoever to do with being classy moron.

How old are you, seriously?

You're asking how old somebody else is??

While you follow Ed around blindly like an 11 year old Justin Bieber fan??? You've got to be the biggest retard on the planet.... SERIOUSLY, as you would say.

That above is why LiVE were such a wonderful band; The passion and emotion they were able to elicit from their fans is both incredible and unique.

Ed obviously didn't much appreciate CG because he hid him behind a Perspex cage and yet is proudly displaying Ramy...which is very sad.

I love those old bootlegs man; Secret Samadhi concert Broadcast is my favorite.

I miss what LiVE used to be too.

I didn't brand you an 'Ed-Hater' I don't think....if I did I apologise.

Regarding Nick; well I think if you both are truly so opposite than just agree to disagree the first person to stop sniping at the other really is the bigger man. It would be frustrating though if he has not acknowledged where guys like you and Dimitri are coming from.

I think all the plexiglass thing simply states the passion for a drummer. Ramy is not hitting the skin too hard, passionate or angsty, like making severe love tO a woman you wanted for years, like Chad does, so that does not bother Ed.

He hasn't, and the most he can say is "you like what you like, and I like what I like" .. which is totally fine, that point has never been in dispute. But then he'll turn around and say something ridiculous like the call to arms to garner Ed a higher rating on itunes because people were "spamming" it, and by spamming he means giving a negative review, which there is nothing wrong with. It's frustrating that this guy thinks this way. He doesn't seem to understand how anyone could possibly have anything negative to say about Ed beyond a simple "I don't like his music" .. but unfortunatly for people like myself and many others here who have been so emotionally invested in the whole thing for so long, much longer than Nick was, it's not a simple case of just saying that ... that's the sort of statement I could make about .. bah, I dunno, John Mayer, never had any emotional investment in his stuff, so saying "It's not my thing" is about all I can say and move on.
Its a bit different with someone you've held in high regard .. and I'm hoping someday, much sooner than later whatever ties are still hanging around between myself and Ed are cut totally and I can just brush his horrible music aside like nothing.

I hope that doesn't happen mate, as I said I usually enjoy reading what you've got to say. It's not really about being a balancing out of Nick though, no one is really taken In by the 'Ed is perfect' thing - nick believes and works hard for it, few other would. I'm just glad the site is still here.

Ed is human like all of us, makes mistakes too. Maybe we just expect more from the guy than what he can deliver right now.

Ramy Antoun has much more personality on stage than Chad Gracey ever had. The Live songs that the new band is playing sound just as good as they did when Live was playing them. There really is no drop off in sound at these shows at all. I found that most surprising, because I expected the new band not to sound as good, it just isn't the case.

That statement right there is what separates you from objectivity. The dumming on Alive is piss poor & produced to make it sound ok.

To say Gracey has no personality on stage......that is utter shit. All drummers are responsibile for keeping time. Gracey drums to his own style and it has plenty of personality. You haven't watched anything from 1990-2000. All the Ed show sounds is so subdued, which allows you to say this. Ed was responsibile for caging CAG!!!! nod.gif

Please put down the crack pipe Nick.
