Actually a #4 debut for the Netherlands mainly had to do with Ed's work ethic and label support. As a new artist going off without his former band, I think it was a great debut for the album. The drop wasn't unexpected, but I feel the album will hang around on the charts at least through his tour in September.

The rise in Belgium was phenomenal however!

"Alive" will not be a huge seller in the US, but he has been using and the album and single as a touring tool quite effectively. The single has been played consistently in markets where Ed is promoting an upcoming concert and he has been drawing good crowds to the shows. Albums sold at shows don't report to soundscan, but he has been picking up a ton this week!

I'm curious to see how the album does in Austalia.

Man, what a country we've become. All the mindless people of my generation can think about are dollar signs and marketing. Does anyone remember when it was more about the music? I'm too young, but I wish I'd been around then.

it may initially chart ok but it will drop out really fucking fast.

His tour in Australia is positioned well to capitalize on the release. So I guess we shall see.

Indeed. Though there are still musicians and fans that are about the music, just not that many and gotta dig deeper I guess. What can ya do.

I think you're yearning for a past that didn't really exist. Maybe in the early days of rock and roll, as with any new genre, it may have been true. But once someone makes it with a new sound, so many others are sure to follow in search of that buck.

It'll be weird knowing he's touring and not going to see him, i'm comfortable with my decision that I won't, but it'll be the first time he's toured in any capacity that I haven't seen since 1995.

It will drop out fast here, trust me.

Probably, in the sense that bands in modern history have all enjoyed selling well and making money, but I'm sure there weren't any fans back then who were fans of the way their favorite band was marketed.

Either way, it should debut moderately strong, and the tour will be a success as well.

That's the thing.. I don't think the album will sell well and the tour will probably be a flop too, especially here in the States.

Holy crap... he went from #4 to #28 in a week? Talk about falling off a cliff.

#28 is a real fucking zero in my book........perhaps I'll notice if he's #1 on something and I'll give a compliment.

Ed is an old 90's rock star. Live was having trouble selling in the US and now Ed is traveling without the name. Nobody (in any type of quantity) knows who he is.

I don't think his album has a chance of going #1 in the US. The album isn't even a blip on the radar here.

That tour better be super small venue.

Mainly 1000 and under in the US. Playing some a lot of big markets too.

I think we have to get used to that for both Ed and TGF, unless one really takes off. That's not necessarily a bad thing. It makes concerts more intimate with the band and its fans.
