Yeah I kinda agree, if Nick wants to have his own thread purely about Ed's charting success he should, i'm sure there will be one for TGF for curiosity's sake. It's when Nick brings up charting and sales in arguments or in places they just don't need to be which is where the problem is. We all know Nick's philosophy that sales somehow dictate how good a song is, but if we shit on a thread he makes specifically about it we're just doing it to shit on him .. and I like shitting on Nick when he's wrong which is often, but yeah you get what I mean.

This is going to get really fun in September... I see some very similar comparisons coming.

I'm being serious, I don't think people should shit on this thread, if Nick can contain his love of charting and sales to a thread specific to it, rather than using it as a means to argue the quality of music then we should let him. I do think it would be hypocritical to shit on this thread and then when there is a TGF thread in september to shit on Nick for shitting on the thread (which he will).

Ah... so Ed's music is hated on there, too. I knew it wasn't just us fans who knew WAY too much about his lying, cheating and stealing from his bandmates!

His music isn't accepted worldwide after all.

no no I think Nick has been accusing people of intentionally going out of their way to make bad reviews which is effecting sales. Did you see the post in the other thread?

Actually a #4 debut for the Netherlands mainly had to do with Ed's work ethic and label support. As a new artist going off without his former band, I think it was a great debut for the album. The drop wasn't unexpected, but I feel the album will hang around on the charts at least through his tour in September.

The rise in Belgium was phenomenal however!

"Alive" will not be a huge seller in the US, but he has been using and the album and single as a touring tool quite effectively. The single has been played consistently in markets where Ed is promoting an upcoming concert and he has been drawing good crowds to the shows. Albums sold at shows don't report to soundscan, but he has been picking up a ton this week!

I'm curious to see how the album does in Austalia.
