Round and round we go. The Live soap opera!

About the 'bottled up artistical magic.' I'd somewhat agree with you on that one, but dammit WHY did they go and pick Kevin Martin to sing!

You don't like KM's voice, that's fair enough, but it's different to people here not liking Ed's voice. Unless you were a huge candlebox fan and see him joining TGF as a big downfall, Ed is a total fall from grace (no pun) to a lot of people here, it's not just about not liking his music. If I was never a Live fan or just heard Ed now without following him I could just as easily go "eh, not my thing" and that's that. I think a lot of people forget the power and passionate hold music has on people and it's effects .. I dunno.

This is the most obvious part of the TGF Ed-hating that is just pointless. If you dont like the man's music, then why sit around and just put it down. Live was a band, that's all! We has Live around for nearly 20 years. Not a lot of other groups make it that far. That being said, I still think we'll see them together again one day. Will be hilarious to see the reaction on here, if the board is even still around.

Go enjoy the new band and who knows, maybe find a couple more that appeal to you as well.

A few reasons:

1. It is fun to see people, like you, get their panties in a wad
2. We've been posting here for a long time and enjoy the community here
3. While we find Ed's current direction repulsive, we still enjoy discussing it

If Live tours again I wouldn't be surprised either, i'd see them too, but it certainly wouldn't be a redemption for Ed in people's eyes, like it's been said. Ed's image and abilities had taken a nose dive for a lot of people long before the end of Live.

by the way, I find it kind of insulting that you say to find more new bands. I gaurantee the amount of music I listen to and enjoy would blow the 7 bands that Nick likes out of the water.

That comment wasnt to insult, or to insinuate that people dont already have varied interests in other artists. You took that the wrong way. I was just simply making a comment about moving on to the next chapter after you've decided that you dont like someone's music.

I'll give you the fact that yes, Ed as part of Live, and this is a Live message board. What can I say, I just like the banter with you guys I guess.

Poor Nick, cant catch a break around here.

Live to me was 4 talented musicians who made my favorite music.

Ed, to me, will always be the 'voice' of Live. And contrary to what you Ed-haters want to believe, that will always be the case with the majority of people who will forever associate his unique voice with the TC days (the last time he was relevant, at least here in the US), and most specifically with Lightning Crashes.

Just as TGF will be associated with Candlebox exponentially more often than with Live, simply because the 'voice' of the band sounds just like Candlebox.

I disagree with you on this one. While I'm not overly familiar with Candlebox's more recent work, the sound of TGF and the sound of Candlebox are not nearly the same. Just like Live is best known in the U.S. for the TC days, Candlebox is probably still best known for the self-titled album days with hits such as "Far Behind", "You" and "Cover Me". The sound and feel of Kevin's voice is vastly different from his Candlebox glory days to the sound he has with TGF.

The prominence of other band members in the music plays a very large part in how the lead singer's voice comes across. It's a lot easier for a singer to go from one band to another and have a completely different sound. Whereas a singer going from band to solo artist will inevitably bring up reminiscences of some of the band's simpler songs. The reason for this is that most singers, when leaving a band to go solo, make the mistake of having everything be subservient to them.

That's not a knock on Ed specifically. He fell into the same trap that many others have fallen into over the years. Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty was another one who fell into that trap. With a couple of exceptions, I thought his first solo album was sadly lacking musically compared to what he had done with the band. He corrected some of those mistakes in the second album and it made for a much better listen.

One artist who I always thought got it was Billy Joel. For someone who carries the moniker "Piano Man", he was sure adept at using just about every type of sound, from saxophones, to drums, to violins, to guitars in his music.

Nope!

It's not about wording things correctly, it's about being a pig headed ignorant fool who runs a fansofLIVE website when he barely was a fan of the band, just Ed.
