There is a lot more to being a Christian than the things you listed. Christ told us to share our faith so that is why Christians do it.

Why do we have Christian rock? Because we can. We like rock music. We love God, makes sense to put them together.

I still don't think what Ed is doing is Christian rock though. He sings a lot about God and faith but in broad terms.

We dont NEED Christian rock. It is out there. I enjoy it (along with many other formats). I will assume that I am not the only one. If you dont like it, then listen to something else.

I certainly dont like gangsta' rap. They scream about all they things they love (bitches & hoes, money, cars, etc). What's the difference?? Its all entertainment. Change the damn channel.

Faith is very personal, as you stated. But you can pick and choose what you listen to.

As for your questions, I've done and still do lots of bad things. If someone has led you to believe that Christians are perfect and don't do bad things, they are very misinformed.

Music has, for centuries, been an important part of human expression. It only makes sense to meld an avenue of expression with proclamation and conversion especially since many Christians feel very passionate about their faith. They're taught very early on that their faith is awesome and it is a truly decent and kind thing to spread it to as many people as possible. After all, they have found what they were looking for in it, and it brought them great joy, so why not share that with as many people as they can find?

Darn you for making me really like these Christian rock songs and making me sing things like "Setting my sights on the great beyond" and "Falling asleep at the wheel of my life" and "drink you like water, drinking you like freedom" and "if you can stand tall with me" at the top of my lungs in my car. These songs are anthemic.

I didn't think I would like this album. I thought the lyrics would obstruct my enjoyment of the songs. But I'll be darned if I don't really every song on this album except for Rome. I really like them. I can't get the melodies out of my head. It's even making me think about Christianity a bit. If it is a sign of good song writing that the song writer can get you to enjoy the music over your own very strenuous objections - then good job Ed.
