A little gamesmanship.......Here you want to get all up in Martin's face......for what..... telling the facts? Please!! I smell more than bullshit emanating from your pulpet.

Ed's interaction with the crowd was indeed artificial and not really there. The things he said were not only canned and repetitive but lame as balls. I always hoped he would shut the fuck up and try to sing the songs like he did in the 90s. I remember at the Chameleon Club show in 06 or 07, Chad was telling a great story about how the MJ album cover pictures were taken at the bar directly across the room, completely engaged with the audience, only to have Ed cut him off with a sarcastic "thanks for a run down memory lane, Chad!" I almost threw my beer bottle at his face and not doing so remains one of my biggest regrets in life. Fuck Ed.

Yes, Nick was wrong about just about everything regarding TGF. Cue the dancing bananas Bob!!!

I personally liked Ed's interaction with the audience. Our opinions just differ. When I saw him at all the shows in 2009, I liked being able to turn off what little part of my brain still works and just enjoy the same show I saw in 2002. I liked hearing "how you feelin NOW" for the 200th time. Repetition and predictability are comforting to me, much like my stuffed animal bear that I sleep with at night. This is also why I'm excited for Alive, which I haven't heard yet but know is the best record ever made. I have heard enough of it to know that it's just as predictable and reliable as my bear. One songs even sounds like a copy of a Kelly Clarkson song which I've already heard, which is a plus. It's much better than that loud rock and roll my mother and pastor warned me about.

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Jul 3 2010, 11:16 am) *

That's fair, but as a performer he really brings the crowd into the performance. The guy just knows how to connect with an audience.

Maybe The Gracious Few will now be Kevin's main focus, but him taking shots at Ed just makes him look petty and second rate.

Dude theres so many frontmen and women out there that do just as good job as Ed, if not better at getting the fans involved. People who actually TALK to the audience, not just say the same repeated lines over and over again. Ed gets the crowd to sing along at points, jesus this isn't new or original or different, if you think that this is then you REALLY haven't been to enough music shows.
I saw Nouvelle Vague the other night, Ed has nothing on a really really really hot French chick singing Dead Kennedy's "too drunk to fuck" and getting one half of the crowd singing "too drunk" and the other half "to fuck". If you say "so what?" to that comment, then I could say "so what?" to any time that Ed involves the crowd, your point is mute.

Ed played the same fucking songs night in night out with barely any setlist change, if he really wanted to involve the crowd and treat people that went to each show as something special then he'd give us something different, he didn't.

Another reason I love the old Morrissey, handing the microphone to people in the crowd to get some random comments or have them ask him questions which he'd either answer or make funny remarks about ... point was it was different, actually involved the audience and was never the same. I'm sure you'll come back with "on the 21st of May 2007 Ed handed the microphone to someone in the crowd!!" whoopdidoo.

The stories he tells are the same fucking things over and over ... like I've said before, when I saw him in Melbourne last year, 2 nights in a row he told the story about how he wrote Nobody Knows in Canberra, this barely got any reaction from the crowd and Ed on BOTH nights acted surprised going "whoa I didn't know about the whole Mel-BORN-Canberra thing!" ... there is no Melbourne-Canberra thing ... who gives a shit about Canberra? There's a Melbourne-Sydney thing ... argh. Used to be a great frontman, turned into a very poor one.

I knew this comment would drive Nick insane, but the point is Nick it's the truth. Kevin isn't bad mouthing Ed, he's stating how he is different from Ed. Ed doesn't show personality at gigs ... before 1999 this was the case too, but he was more shy and withdrawn, and I could handle that better than the pre rehearsed stuff he does now. He doesn't make a show feel like he's right there and in the moment and treating the show like it's an individual.

Once again to bring up a Morrissey quote when an interviewer asked him about performing he cut them off and said "I never perform, only seals perform, I just live". And that's exactly the way it should be. You're not performing, you're living your life and taking anyone in the audience along with you.

I've seen Live almost 20 times and Ed has always been very interactive with the crowd. Always moving from side to side on the stage and getting the crowd involved in the songs. Did he rehash some of the same lines and stories at different concerts? Yes, but I find that to be no different than CT doing the same movements, stomps, etc at the same points during various songs. Unfortunately when a band has been around as long as Live and played as many shows as they have, there becomes a formulaic approach during parts of concerts. That doesn't necessarily make it bad.

I'm not trying to compare who's a better frontman, Ed or Kevin. I've never seen Kevin perform, although I'm looking forward to it with Candlebox at the end of July and whenever TGF play this area. I hear he is a great frontman and definitely does interact with the crowd. He could be a better frontman than Ed, I don't know. It's kinda like CT, I think he's great but that doesn't mean he's the most talented guitarist in the world. With Live I always thought. the sum were greater than the parts. Now back to my point, Kevin made it seem like Ed just stands behind a microphone and sings for an hour and a half to two hours and that is absolutely not the case. Maybe the quote was taken out of context and I'm looking at it wrong, but that's what he appears to be saying IMO.

Adding White, Discussion is truly awesome! I mean, that song was never that great because of Ed's singing, because there wasnt so much singing compared to other Live songs. The music they made live was what made W,D so great. Happy they choose for this. Too bad they only choose 2 so far, I expected a lot more!

Btw, I don't understand people that say Chris is knocking Ed in public? Huh, why? He said that TGF will play the Live songs differently then they were played when LIVE (including Ed K) played them. So what?

Especially if they already have 7 even newer songs written for the next cd. Not only do we get to hear the new songs, but the new new songs as well!

You forget Ed banning him from a show.......I read that somewhere,,,here I believe. Who's jealous??? Looks like your Ed cocksucking reunion will last a long time

QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Jul 2 2010, 10:36 pm) *

If Kevin actually believed he was the better frontman, he wouldn't feel the need to knock Ed in public.

That WAS posted on here. Good luck trying to find it, I tried many different words in the search engine...and guess what...magically it's gone. One guess as to why it's gone. As usual Ned can't handle anything negative about Da EdK, or should I say Da EGO. I bet Ned lies awake at night dreaming about a threesome w/ him, Ed and Daughtery. On second thought, I wouldn't be suprised if Ned has a plan to kill Daughtery, for since Ed is obsessed with that loser and in Ned's mind is the only thing standing in the way of him banging out Ed. I try to give you the benefit of the doubt and have even given you props at times...but sir, you are a closed minded ASS. I give Kevin credit for never once bringing up being removed from the stage. That gives me no doubt as to who the bigger man and better person is. Removing Kevin from the side of the stage is as low class a move as you can get, especially with camaraderie that usually exists between musicians. Not to mention Kevin & Gracey have been long time friends as mentioned in the article. Save the Ed loving excuses jackass, for there are none. Face it, your idol is a bad person. I feel bad for you, it's a terrible thing when you have to realize something like that about someone you look up to.

Why is that being interpreted as taking a shot at Ed? He just described how they have different styles as frontmen.

Also, why is it being assumed that Kevin brought up Ed on his own? That isn't how interviews work and he was just responding to a question.

I didn't say it was a shot at Ed. I was just disagreeing with his opinion on Ed's interactions with the crowd.

I'm sure he was probably asked by the interviewer and didn't bring Ed up on his own, although I didn't hear the audio portion.
