Most of them were disappointed before they stole the album. Pre-conceived notions abound. smile.gif

Maybe, but I'm not doubting they heard and don't like the album. That's fine. Everyone has a right to their opinion, whether it's good or bad. I just try not to let it influence me one way or the other. I'm looking forward to both albums. If for some reason I don't like Ed or TGF or both, I'll just listen to my other albums...especially Live rockin.gif

A couple of tracks have grown on me since my initial spins.

This is clearly his worst material and there are quite a few tracks that I press skip on(which i've never ever done before...ok apart from call me a fool....and a few from SFBM),but I'm starting to find some sections of it more listenable...though i try not to have it up too loud in fear of being accused of some 'U.S Christian summer camp in the woods group' attendee.

If you're an Ed fan still and have an open mind, you'll be initially dissapointed at first, but after a while a few decent tracks emerge still which is better than nothing. If you've hated Live's sound over the past 4-5 years, then this album will make you want to throw up in most parts

On the 'classic Live sound' on this album debate, well it's not there mostly. Apart from the start of Soul Whispers..his voice is eerily like very very early days, even DOAD days. That song is amazing at the start...but it falls away after a minute or two. Any other similarities to Live's sound....there are some BOP similarities there in some songs...but it's mostly SFBM B-side at sunday school kind of stuff

I'm still here.........

We're closer
down we go
always high
always low
the harder that we fall
always right
always wrong
I have been wronged by you
some day you'll
some day you'll see
what has been done brings you
closer to
closer to me yeah

unbroken and reborn
second sight and well worn
unbridled and restless
reminded, venomous

I have been wronged by you
some day you'll
some day you'll see
what has been done brings you
closer to
closer to me yeah

Yes I knew this album was going to suck before I stole it. It sucks perhaps even worse than I imagined, but to be fair I will say it sucks about in line with my expectations. It is shitty pop with a few DECENT songs one of which was stolen from Kelly Clarkson, has ZERO originality and ZERO musical talent. I really am not joking when I say that Lady Gaga's album is far superior. It's a piece of shit album, will not sell jack shit, and is the most dreadful thing he's put his sorry ass ever-changing-because-I'm-insecure name on. Let go of the delusion, young grasshopper. Your idol made a fucked up farting clown album and you know it.

I personally don't care if you like it or not. You bitched about the last three live albums and I loved those. So our opinions don't mesh.

Anyone who likes SBFM will love this album. That being said, there are not many that did like SBFM so that about sums it up. If you do like then hey, to each his own. For the fans that have been around for a long time via pre-V era. I think this is the tell tell sign that we were thinking of what caused LIVE to do a 180 the past 10 years and lose most of its fan base. It was Ed. He helped make LIVE great in the 90's and help kill it off afterwards. Ironic but true. If he couldve made more songs like Zion, Where do we go from here, Purifier, and Like I Do, then I think LIVE could continued on with some good success the past 10 years. Insteadm those songs were the exception not the norm.

....just another thought. Thinking back to the greatest hits album which was made just so the record company could release a final album from thier contract without losing money, the first sign of things to come for the beginning of the end I think was that Nobody Knows and Run Away made it onto that album. no.gif

The best song on the album is Soul Whispers. This song could easily be a single on Secret Samadhi. Grace / Drive / Drink are also very good.

I think the beginning has a serious "Born Branded" thing going on, too.

I'm listening to it.

Here's the album disc and back cover, for those interested.

It sounds like Simon Cowell was the lead on this thing. I didn't watch American Idol last season, was Ed a contestant and did he win? It's frustrating because he is/was so talented. His voice sounds good, but this is more pop than SFBM by a mile. Even on the songs with heavy, semi-hard guitar. The pop-lyrics, song structure and style just makes me think he's just aiming for a totally different fanbase.

I want to give my disclaimer. While not anywhere near as much of a fan of Ed as Nick(SJN) as a person I've been able to tolerate Ed's transformation musically. I obviously prefer the MJ - TDTH Ed, but BOP and even SFBM were worth owning to me. I didn't down right hate it. I like Zion and even Grace.

I wanted to give this disclaimer so that my comments on the songs below would be relative. I can't believe I'm so critical and harsh of his album, but it's really the worst thing, in my opinion, that he has put his name on. The best song is Zion. Tracks 7,8,11 are generic christian radio-play pop. This album makes me wonder about the whole law-suit thing, because if this is 100% Ed's work, I find it hard that he actually had 100% creative control of Live for BOP and SFBM. Each of those three are notably better albums than Alive.

1) Drive is alright, I guess. Would suck for a live song, but probably one of the better songs on this album
2) The Great Beyond - Sounds like Kelly Clarkson Pop..... from 1982
3) Grace - We've all heard it
4) Stand - Sounds hard on the guitar, had potential, but goes too pop in the singing
5) Drink (Everlasting Love) - One of the better songs on the album, which is sad. Tolerable-ish SFBM-ish
6) Zion - Probably the best song on the album, vocals sound re-mixed (but the same recording) from the version we had earlier
7) In your light - Generic Pop, I just can't get into it
8) Just in Time - Starts off horrible (verses), get's better but still more cliche' trendy pop
9) Rome - Tolerable if you could tolerate SFBM
10) Soul Whispers - One of the better songs, maybe 3rd best IMO. Softer Ballad kinda song thus less radio-play formulaic. Although "Soul Whispers" as a lyric is tacky
11) Fire on the Mountain - More generic sounding pop

I heard "A New Word" and it really has that TDTH vibe going. Love the song and can't wait to hear the rest of "Alive" on Tuesday.

I relistend to A New World today, it's the only song I decided to relisten to But after Zion I'd say it's the second most listenable. It does have the most "Like-like" vibe going on I'd say, but it's nowhere near the greatness of TDTH or it's outtakes.

How did you listen to it since you are against downloading (streaming) music that has yet to have been released by the content owner?

Either ordering it from overseas or stealing it.
