Are there going to be more US shows coming soon? Not too many tour dates for a new album so far. I would have thought they would have released a big tour in the US already now that the album has a release date and a single is out.

Ed's Manager: "Hey Ed good news, you and your band are going to open up for the hot new band this fall all over the US!

Ed: "Thats awesome! I am looking forward to it! So who is it?"

Ed's Manager: " They are called the Gracious Few" "Ever heard of them"?

Ed: "Oh" uhhhhh..... I'll just stay home and play some acoustic stuff and post in on you tube then."

I'm guessing that Lollapalooza is offering entertainment for parents at the kids stage. He may be playing more shows that weekend, but nothing is confirmed as of yet.

Nick - I will be traveling to Chicago at this time. I won't pay to see a show where Ed plays acoustically for 15 minutes. If any new news about Chicago shows come up please let me know when you hear it.

I am pretty sure that Ed will be playing Chicago again in September, but will do.

Apparently after their show in Ft. Collins, they played a surprise set at a restaurant/bar also. That would have been great to see.

You and your band were great tonight at the Sports eXchange in Ft Collins Colorado. You guys came in for drinks and graciously played a quick set for the stunned owners, employees and 200 bar patrons. WOW!

I was thinking a new album and a new solo career would bring a tour consisting of a tour more than 10 dates in the US. And over half of them are in New York. Whats up with that? Guess Ed is having trouble booking dates in the US.

QUOTE
In the spotlight: Ed Kowalczyk

First published in print: Thursday, July 1, 2010

The former Live singer Ed Kowalczyk will be returning to the area to play, live, Northern Lights in Clifton Park. In the past, he has played slightly larger venues (LiveAid).

With Live, formed in York, Pa., Kowalczyk was thrust into the public eye, thanks to his intense delivery, anthemic tunes with underlying spiritual themes, as well as his charismatic, shaved-head look.

In the early '90s, albums like "Throwing Copper" catapulted Live up the charts, and with songs like "I Alone," "Lightening Crashes," "Lakini's Juice" and "Selling the Drama," Live eventually sold more than 20 million records.

On his own, Kowalczyk has appeared in the David Fincher film "Fight Club" and now has put together a band. His new CD is called "Alive," and new single "Grace" has all the elements of his former band: the impassioned attack, the circular construction and whisper-to-a-scream dynamics.

Where: 8 p.m. Wednesday

Where: Northern Lights, 1208 Route 146, Clifton Park

Tickets: $27

Info: 371-0012; http://www.northernlightslive.com/

-- David Malachowski
