By the way if you want to increase the volume on this boot, I recommend WavePad.

I just posted the following on TGF's Facebook page...
Here's hoping that I get some type of a response.

Out of respect to both Live and Candlebox and their fans, I don't think they would or should re-record any songs from either band for studio purposes. Just let them be.

Sorry, but its such a great version, that it would be a complete shame if they didn't release it.

I admit that I'm kind of torn on this. Loved it when I heard it live, but then, it's one of my favorite songs anyway. But I like the fact that they're keeping the focus on their own new material, as witnessed by the lack of any Candlebox or Live songs at the Webster Hall show.

Tell you this much, if they release it as a b-side to one of the singles, that would be a single I would buy. And I don't usually buy singles.

Thank you.

The music is exactly the same

As a drummer of 10 years (and a slightly crappy guitar player lol.gif ) I fucking burst out laughing at this. You really are talking out of your ass about things you have no fucking clue about.
It's actually becoming insulting to hear you make completely WRONG statements like that.

You truly have zero ability to hear music from a technical side, like seeing the difference between drum beats. Let alone not hearing a guitar solo where one never was originally in the song. You really should keep quiet in these matters because you can't see how ignorant and uneducated musically you sound. Damn, you don't even have to be educated in music to hear such changes.

Thank you.

The music is exactly the same, the vocals come off flat. That said, it is good that they are covering a Live song in their set.

omg.gif

The music is quite re-arranged (as others have eloquently stated), and the vocals are "flat" because when Ed sings this song he is at the top of his range, while when Kevin sings it he is at the lower end of his range. He isn't going to be able to deliver like he does on other songs, except at the very end when he rocks it up high.

On another topic, am I the only one who doesn't really dig the reworked Far Behind? I can see why people like it, but I can't really get into it.

It's an interesting thing. I loved the re-worked version, but I think the reasons are partially because it was the first time I was able to hear one of my favorite songs done live and because it added a new twist to it that I still found pleasing to the ear. The other part of it being the circumstances under which I got to hear it.

However, and it sounds strange to say it, I'm not sure Far Behind would've been one of my favorite songs had the up tempo version been the original version. The pace of the original version, to my ears, was spot on for the song. It's still my preferred version of the song. But that isn't stopping me from enjoying the heck out of the re-worked version. It provides a nice contrast to the original.

I think that's what makes for a truly great cover, the ability to add a different touch to the song while not ruining it.

That doesn't mean I think you're wrong for not digging it. It still boils down to a matter of taste. If it doesn't tickle your fancy, it doesn't tickle your fancy. Nothing wrong with that.

I am glad that they put a different twist on it instead of playing it straight up, ultimately I kind of wish they would have put their twist on another Candlebox song though. "You" would be a great cover that I think the Live guys could do some great stuff with.

But then again I hold the Candlebox self-titled release right up there with Throwing Copper, so I'm going to be the toughest to please here. smile.gif

Tredecim was the first song I heard from them where the Zeppelin influence really showed through for me, both musically and the sound of Kevin's voice right from the opening lyric.

I'm ignorant to LZ so that comparison is lost on me. I like it because of the line "these waters between us our crashing and cold." I liked the lyrics themselves and the delivery second/third time round, and it hooked me in. Since then, every listen, I've digested a bit more until now, when it's a decent track to throw on.

Dancing Banannas Foster!!!!!! I think Appetite sounds more Zeppelin than Tredceim ----- Tredecim is simply pure and simple TGF (their sound, their signature)
