I remember them announcing at Sonic Sunday that they were going to be back pretty quick to play the Variety. Live has always spent plenty of time in and around Atlanta. I am SUPER pissed at myself for missing the show on the GT Student Center lawn! I graduated from GT. Started there in the Fall of 1993, and cant for the life of me figure out how that one slipped off my radar screen. They did come back to play Alexander Memorial sometime in 1994-1995 though. Those mid 90's shows were just simply amazing. Catch their back-to-back nights at the Roxy? Or how about Legion Feild in Athens?

Love these memories. Great thread!

We were at Tech at the same time! '92-'98, ME.

I still have the poster for the Student Center show hanging up.

I caught Sonic Sunday the next couple of years, discovered 311 before anyone knew who they were (and back when they were good) and Ben Harper playing solo on a stage about the size of a coffee table.

Yup, both nights at the Roxy, Legion Field (and Beale St. Festival in Nashville the next night!), WOMAD @ Lakewood, at the coliseum and a few more nights at Lakewood over the years. Picked up the STD 10" at Criminal Records for like $5, still one of my favorite Live vinyls.

I miss the ATL music scene, but not the humidity or the traffic.

My most memorable concert was the last HOB Houston show. Met up with Jimmy, Kerrie, Karen and Bonnie. Had a fantastic time. Got to meet the boys after the show; great as always. The real treat was hearing Gas Hed for the first time. MAJOR goosebumps!

I was at this show, too! Also backstage as well. How fun!

My first show (and all) is in my signature. 9/3/95 - at Pine Knob. Opening song was in the dark, Dam at Otter Creek, when Gracey hit the drums the white lights flashed on and went off after he was done each time. It was fucking amazing.

God how things changed.

My most memorable moment was getting backstage to meet the band at my last Live concert.

I know the second time I saw them at the Arts Center, Live opened up for Counting Crows. I'm pretty sure it was that way the first time I saw them as well. I remember wishing it had been the other way around because of how slow and plodding the CC show seemed in comparison after the energy-fest that was the Live show. I like some of the Counting Crows music, but much of it just puts me to sleep.

I was at that show, thats exactly what I thought. I couldn't believe Live was opening for CC, Live was so much better. Their set was too short, 10 songs? They played Deep Enough that show before V was released, pretty cool to hear a new song at the time.

yeah I remember that tour. They opened up for CC here in Atlanta as well. I remember the lights going off and hearing the opening chords to Lightning Crashes and was like wtf???? Ed had a cool new looking new beard then too. I also remember them playing Deep Enough too. Those were some good days! I also remember that was the show my gf broke up with me afterwards! Guess she saw there was no future in LIVE! lol

first live show was the BOP tour in 03.

I had discovered live with TDTH when a friend gave me the album and I somehow totally flew under the radar of V (i was finishing highschool so i guess i was too busy on my computer...uhh...studying). Listened to the thing for 3 or 4 years. was never into music but this thing was the soundtrack to my life. I guess being so green to music meant that TDTH is a sort of yard stick that i measured and still to this day measure all other music against. To me it was my first and perfect example of what a rock album should be. How much better it was without the internet when others' opinions can influence your own experience of art. no.gif

Then i heard heaven and bought the album and pretty much became a fanboy. I enjoyed bop so much it was crazy. Couldnt believe the excitement going to the show, which i attended solo. most memorable moment was standing in the mosh pit like a sardine with a bunch of strangers, the anticipation was tremendous. was not into the fansites at this time so had no idea about what the gigs were like or what song to expect. Then that electric sonic boom exploded around the stadium and before the drums had time to kick in i began convulsing to Like I DO. FUCKING A! the way the lights were manipulated, the way ed walked out in silhouette, the beer, the sweat, the rock, cant fucking forget it. i ended up spastic in the mosh pitt with some old cows behind me telling me to stop jumping up and down. a lovely chick next to me snapped back "its a mosh pitt". ha! Take that old cows!

why was this so special? maybe because it wasn't just my first Live show, it was my very first rock concert ever! The mystery of the band, the lyrics, just everything. Which will never come back. the internet has ruined it all.

Edenfest 1996 - One of the last shows of the TC tour. Dam at Otter Creek was first. One of the coolest moments of my young life!

Damn, what a true statement Wam. It's not too often I think about how my life has been changed by the internet, but that's a big one. I don't know if he still does it, but I remember reading somewhere that the singer Seal didn't put the lyrics to his songs inside the booklet, because he wanted people to get whatever it was they were going to get out of the songs for themselves.

I remember the BOP era, damn Like I Do rocked!!!!! I can remember Ed coming out onto stage, swirling his mic up in the air, like "are you guys ready to get this MFing party started or what!!!!!" I saw them twice in 2 days on that tour. The Hard Rock in Orlando on 11-15-01 and then again in Sunrise, FL on the 16th. I thought I was BIG TIME then! haha

It's been fun reading through everyone's experiences. We owe an awful lot to those 4 kids from York.

From the heart, thanks +guys+.

Wam - you alright?

These actually seem like grammatically correct sentences. Why don't you sit down and have some wine or something!
