Well you've got me beat. I've only gone as far as NC. Worst show ever. Not because of Live but because it was in the middle of a Nascar field in 99 degree heat! What the hell was I thinking?! lol.gif

The Florida show was great but Ed's atitude in the beginning of Wings killed my mood. He got pissed because people were screaming and whistling in the beginning of Wings. Jeez!

Never got the opportunity to see TC/MJ shows. 8/2/1997 Montage Mtn on the ski slope amphitheater.
I was never struck in awe as hearing Iris and Gas Hed live !! I was totally transfixed. Almost got into a fight with some people in front of us who had a girl on a guys shoulders and wouldnt get down. I was in like the 15th row on Pat's side. I loved the SS shows as they were as hard as anything!!

This is a fun thread. Remembering all of our first shows. We should start one about which one was our favorite and why! That would be really hard for me to choose!

That's a great idea Heather, you should definitely start that topic. I've already got mine picked out lol.gif

When I saw them in Austin in 97, it was like 100 degrees outside. I remember clawing my way to the front trying to get just a drop or two of water that Ed was so kindly spraying on the crowd. It was like a food supply wagon pulling up to a famished village!

I remember walking to the car after the show, not really sure of what just happened to me. I was tired, my ears were ringing, my feet hurt, and I had just seen +Live+ for the first time. On the way home, the afterglow set in, and I haven't ever looked back.

Damn! Can't believe 10 years flew by that fast!

I remember it as if it were yesterday - 20th June 2000 ABSA Stadium in Durban.

What an amazing show. It is my fondest memory of the band and it was an experience that definitely 'pulled' me in closer into the LIVE universe that I still find myself in today.

Seen them a further 3 times since, in 2003, 2006 and 2008 at 46664 - but I will never forget that show 10 years ago.

11/16/94 @ W.U.S.T. Hall in Washington, D.C. (w/ Weezer & Fatima Mansions)

Last show:

May 9th, 2008 Sonar Baltimore, MD

Thats a pretty nice long run they gave us...one of my fav's was seeing them in AC pre BOP release. Saw the boys and than gambled til 10:30 in the morning. Got a hotel that we never used besides dropping our bags off there. Good times.

First: 09/26/97 @ Coral Sky Amphitheater in West Palm Beach, FL Ah those were the days - they killed it (Manbreak and Luscious Jackson opening)

Most memorable: 10/05/99 @ House of Blues in Orlando, FL - Remember waiting for hours meeting some really cool Live fans, getting right in front of the stage and then defending our spot for the rest of the night. By any means necessary. :-)

Farthest traveled:
08/06/97 @ Jones Beach Amphitheatre in Wantagh, NY
08/07/97 @ Jones Beach Amphitheatre in Wantagh, NY
08/19/00 @ Jones Beach Amphitheatre in Wantagh, NY

Last: 2007 Homestead, FL Ford 400 Nascar race. By this time Ed was full on rock star.

Awesome thread Liveoneut, bringing back a lot of good memories.

First: 1992-04-05 on the MTV 120 Minutes Tour with Blind Melon, Public Image Limited and Big Audio Dynamite. Chad T or Pat had the stomach flu, I forget which, so Ed sang and played acoustic guitar and Chad G played bongos. It was amazing and I was hooked.

Most Memorable: Wow, too many amazing shows to pick just one. Probably the '98 Chameleon Club show, the crowd was electric, the band was stoked to be playing new material in their old club.

Farthest: Colorado to Lancaster to Pittsburgh to Allentown in one weekend. However, after the '98 Chameleon Club show I hopped in my car and drove all night back to Atlanta, by myself. I think that was a little crazier than the 3 shows in 3 nights in PA.

First show for me was 07/12/92 @ Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta, GA
(Soooo pissed that I missed the Variety Playhouse show earlier that month).

Billed (by one of the local radio stations I think) as "Sonic Sunday". Perfect summer afternoon sitting in the lawn watching a bunch of popular 90's bands. The guys rocked the place! Classic early Live. They looked just like the little kids pictured on the MJ cover. I dont remember the exact song list, but they played they majority of MJ (well considering they didnt have much else to play back then, I guess that's not surprising).

jclive - Dang they played Album88's Sonic Sunday and at the Variety?!?! I moved to ATL that fall, I caught all of their shows for the next 6 years there. Including the free show on the GT Student Center lawn in the Spring of '93. The guys were driving a UHaul and just sitting on the steps of the building before the set.

QUOTE(Merica @ Jun 28 2010, 10:44 am) *

Yeah, I think they were a little bit known in their TC glory days, but then we forgot about them pretty quickly.

I caught 2 shows back to back in London 2 in '99, epic shows. The place was packed, it was so hot and humid (from people sweating) that Ed was writing on the mirror next to the stage fogged up. I ran into the band in the alley behind the Electric Ballroom after the show, hung out a little and then hopped the train back to Birmingham.

First show for me: 2/25/97 at The Beacon Theatre in NYC. They opened with Rattlesnake. Here's the review I put on Live-Web (yeah, I'm taking it WAY back now):

For those of you who have tickets to an upcoming show, you are in for one hell of a ride!!! The Beacon show was so great. There wasn't even moshing in the front where I was...just a little jumping, a little singing along, and a lot of love. I almost caught one of the sticks Chad threw at the end, but fate denied me. Oh well.

Highlights:

Operation Spirit-Chad T. went berzerk on his guitar solo. During this little "episode," Ed just looked at the crowd, at Chad, back at the crowd with this look on his face that made him look like he was saying "What the fuck am I doing on stage with this lunatic???" Chad played the guitar so hard, he broke it and needed a new one in the middle of the song!!!

Lakini's Juice-The girls started screaming real loud when Ed unbuttoned his shirt for this song. It was real funny the way they all reacted in unison. I don't think they played any other song with more energy.

Ghost-Jennifer Charles was along for the ride on a very emotional performance. Now I remember why I like this song so much.

LIVE comes out for the expected encore-they try to sneak back up on the stage in the dark, but everyone can still see them and they go nuts. If I'm not mistaken, around 700 fit in the house, but they screamed like they were 7000.

Iris-always a great song, always a great performance.

Unsheathed-again, a lot of energy from the band, and enough people know the song well enough to sing along"free love was just another party for the hippies to ruin!"

The rest of the concert was one big, beautiful blur. If you got a chance to see them, let money be no object. +LIVE+ FOREVER!!!

First: 2/25/97 Beacon Theatre NYC (see review above)

Most Memorable: 11/06/01 Roseland Ballroom NYC
2 months after 911. Hoobastank opened with a pretty awesome set, and then LIVE showed everyone why they owned such a passionate and devoted fanbase. Energy was unreal.

Farthest: 6/16/98 (I think) Stone Pony Asbury Park NJ (part of that brief run of shows previewing what would eventually be TDTH (and a bunch of bsides since the band has always sucked in that way).

Last: 7/19/09 Capital One Theater Westbury NY (not just my last show... but their last show as well)
There are lots of youtube clips from this show. The stage rotated, and overall it was a pretty great final performance together. Ed went into a speech during the last song (White Discussion, of course) saying how when they started the band his cell phone weighed 20 lbs.

First: 21 Sept 97: Dallas, TX, Coca-Cola Starplex with Luscious Jackson (who I actually cannot stand). For some reason, I feel like I saw them before this, but this is the first I can remember.

Most Memorable: 29 Oct 99: I won a contest to bowl with the band. CT was the only one who came out before the show and bowled with me. I also got backstage to meet the rest of the guys!

Farthest: 18 July 09: Cleveland. Decided just days before to fly up for the show and met a friend up there who gave me the tickets and backstage passes.

Last: 14 May 09 & 18 July 09
Drove to Houston in May (just a week before the hiatus announcement) with my pal Sarah for the Houston show and got backstage. All the guys posed with a sign that said "Hi Amber" to my college roomie (who was unable to go to the show). She had previously been my LIVE buddy. They all posed individually with the handmade sign and they were friggin' hilarious. They also signed my poster from the SS Tour and it is now framed (and beautiful, I might add).

I remember them announcing at Sonic Sunday that they were going to be back pretty quick to play the Variety. Live has always spent plenty of time in and around Atlanta. I am SUPER pissed at myself for missing the show on the GT Student Center lawn! I graduated from GT. Started there in the Fall of 1993, and cant for the life of me figure out how that one slipped off my radar screen. They did come back to play Alexander Memorial sometime in 1994-1995 though. Those mid 90's shows were just simply amazing. Catch their back-to-back nights at the Roxy? Or how about Legion Feild in Athens?

Love these memories. Great thread!
