09/14/95 @ Garden State Arts Center (now PNC) in Holmdel, NJ was my first Live concert. They probably opened up with Rattlesnake. That was years ago but I still remember it like yesterday!!! TBD was awesome!

Like crazy1, my first concert was at the Garden State Arts Center on the Secret Samadhi tour. For all I can remember, it was the same show. I would've sworn that it was earlier in the summer as I remember it being a birthday present and mine is in June, but I may have just gotten the tickets in June and the show was the same one crazy1 mentioned.

I don't remember details about the set list, though that's par for the course for me if I don't keep track somehow. I remember being in the last five rows of the seating area. Only time I had seats for Live at the Arts Center, the other shows there were all enjoyed from the lawn. I do remember having specifically bought a SS t-shirt while down the shore a week or two prior to the show. So it may well have been that same show.

That's just too damn cool. Further proof that it's a small world after all.

Never had the chance to see them live, sadly.

They never really seemed to "make it" in the UK did they? I know they've toured a couple of times, but it just seems like a place that ...oh wait you're from Jamaica now.

I want to hear Nick's experience of his first Live show. And I mean that too.

Yeah, I think they were a little bit known in their TC glory days, but then we forgot about them pretty quickly.

.... I mean, er, yeah, screw the UK. It's all about Jamaica. Mon.

Given what I remember about the details surrounding the show, that would make a lot more sense. Thank you, VoodooLady!

Of course, if I had thought it through, I would've realized that '95 was the wrong year simply because of who was with me at the time. This is what I get for posting without having had any coffee today. LOL

By the way, Voodoo Lady is arguably my favorite song on TDTH. One of the greatest opening lyrics to any song, ever!

It was def. the Throwing Copper tour...I remember the tee I bought from that concert. They were there again with the Counting Crows after the 95 concert...maybe 96 or 97? I'd have to look at my ticket stubs.

Yeah, for some reason, I didn't pay enough attention to the year in your post. The date that VoodooLady provided for the Arts Center show in '97 was the correct one for me.

It's still cool that we both saw our first Live concert in the same place, even if separated by two years. Are you from NJ as well?

In '97, I could swear they were the headline band. I did see them at least twice at the Arts Center after that with the Counting Crows. Live opened for the Crows on both occasions. I remember Ed doing Hanging Around with the Crows, and their lead singer doing Dolphins Cry with Live. Those were two very cool moments though I think it only happened at the first Live/CC show I saw.

I also saw Collective Soul/Live/Counting Crows at Duchess County Stadium a couple years back. Collective Soul and Live were great. The lead singer of Counting Crows was sooooo high that I doubt he knew where he was. We left before he could butcher any of the songs we liked. You knew it was bad when the ex-wife, who was the hardcore CC fan among us, didn't even flinch when asked if we wanted to leave now.

Ugh....I saw Live, Collective Soul and Counting Crows at First Energy Park. We left after Counting Crows went on. I couldn't even recognize my favorite song Mr. Jones.

That I think is the first time I had an uneasy feeling about Live. Ed left in a seperate tour bus than the rest of the band. I got to meet the guys from Collective Soul..it was really cool.
