My first concert was in Austin Texas, South Park Meadows. My GOD it was soooo freakin hot that day. Wish I could find the actual date....it was the SS tour. I even guessed what the first song was going to be....RATTLESNAKE baby.

My gf and I were having a terrible time because people 'surfing' kept getting dumped on top of us! It really started to piss me off, but then I was like 'we can either let this get to us, or we can just say fuck it and have a great time'....so that's what we did.

I heard Rattlesnake yesterday on Lithium XM and I started to think about that concert, and my first live song. I thought about how sooooo much has changed, but at the same time, there is alot that hasn't changed. Like the goosebumps I still get when Chad plays the first note of Rattlesnake....holding it just long enough for the rest of the +boys+ to thunder in or when they hit the instrumental part! It's the same feeling, every single time I hear it.

So, let's hear about some others (sorry if this is a repost, thought it would be nice to revisit).

My first show was in 97 too in Hershey PA. I lost my mind over that band that night! 30 shows later and I still don't think I'll ever get over that first one!

According to the Live Lounge Tour History it was September 20, 1997
http://www.fansoflive.com/tour/history/1997/

My first Live concert was May 12, 1997. First song was Rattlesnake. I almost died when Chad played the opening chords. I had been waiting for the day for so long and it had finally arrived.

Live's previous tour of Australia in 1995 was only a small one. They played a couple of festivals and a couple of club shows. When they returned for Secret Samadhi, the biggest indoor arenas were used. We're talking about 15,000 seaters. The entire tour was a sellout. I remember trying to get tickets the day they were released (this was before online ordering was common) and being stuck at university and having to use my cell phone to order tickets. I tried for over two hours and kept on getting the busy signal. I never managed to get tickets that day (they sold out) but fortunately found somebody selling tickets in the newspaper.

The concert lived up to all my expectations. The elaborate backdrop and lighting, Ed going mental and climbing speaker stacks, an insane mosh pit (the crowd during Iris was something I'd never seen before and have never seen since), but most importantly the whole band were giving 100% even though it was their final stop on the Australian tour.

It's still my favourite show of the 20+ times I've seen the band. Years later I found a recording of the show and although the quality isn't the best, every time I listen to it I get brought back to that day and all the feelings of elation, excitement and nervousness return...

Dan, thanks for the link to the Live Lounge tour history! Ah, the memories.

First show for me was 07/12/92 @ Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta, GA
(Soooo pissed that I missed the Variety Playhouse show earlier that month).

Billed (by one of the local radio stations I think) as "Sonic Sunday". Perfect summer afternoon sitting in the lawn watching a bunch of popular 90's bands. The guys rocked the place! Classic early Live. They looked just like the little kids pictured on the MJ cover. I dont remember the exact song list, but they played they majority of MJ (well considering they didnt have much else to play back then, I guess that's not surprising).

My first LIVE concert was on my birthday, September 29th, 1997 in Birmingham, Alabama. I had been waiting to see the band in concert for about two years by then so I was pretty keyed up by the time they took the stage. "Rattlesnake" was the opener. Great, great concert. One of my friends won a radio contest and got meet and greet passes so we got to meet the band and get pictures. I need to dig those pictures out, I haven't looked at them in years. The band was cool, Pat was the nicest. Chad T and Gracey were really humble but cool. Ed was Ed. I've met him a few other times since then. He keeps a certain amount of distance between himself and others but he was still nice all the times I met him.

05/08/97 @ Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia

I was 12 at the time I believe and my Dad took me to the show. He saw them in 95 but I was too young to get into the show then even though I wanted to go. I remember being super excited, we were in seats on the front row on the right side of the stage. I remember when the lights went out for them to come on I had butterflys in my stomach I was so excited.
Since SS had been released I'd listend to it over and over and knew it word for word and Rattlesnake was my favorite song at that time so like the original poster stated, when that first chord was struck by Taylor it was just magic.

At the time I believe it ended up being Live's longest concert to date I'd read in a review somewhere, which was pretty awesome. They played a great set with the highlight for me being Unsheathed, absolutely amazing. Ed's voice just filled the arena, so massive. They played supernatural which at that point the only way I had to listen to that song was on VHS tape that I recorded in grainy vision when they aired MTV unplugged on TV but I loved it from that.

It's still the best show I've seen them do.

'95 Summer Tour kicked off in Hershey, PA and that was my first show. They started it off with an amazing performance of The Dam At Otter Creek. The giant strobes were in time with Gracey's drum intro. It was just intense.

we had lawn seats and i remember being disappointed at being so far away. pretty sure they opened with rattlesnake. but the rest is largely a blur. except for ed's spiky blond hair and shiny purple shirt.. did not see that coming!

09/14/95 @ Garden State Arts Center (now PNC) in Holmdel, NJ was my first Live concert. They probably opened up with Rattlesnake. That was years ago but I still remember it like yesterday!!! TBD was awesome!

Damn.....I just fired upRattlesnake on the ol' MP3 player, after reading all of the posts I just had to. Sure enough, when Chad started playing, here come the tears. Jesus what a ride. Never will anyone be able to take it away from us. Give Rattlesnake a listen everybody (you can thank me later) nod.gif
