I don't like TGF's music, and I promise you I won't steal their stream when it leaks. I also didn't download Zion or Grace as they leaked either. Just because you can steal music in 2010, doesn't mean it is the right thing to do. And just because you may not like Ed's music, doesn't make it okay to steal.

Sorry you don't like the album Steve, but I'm excited to actually purchase the album on July 6th. I love the clips that I've heard, and I am pretty positive I am going to dig the album.

That's fine.

It's not stealing if you don't keep it. Other than music and movies can you think of any product that you can buy and NOT return it if you don't like it? Most food you can even return. The reason software can't be returned is because it's so easy to duplicate, there is no way to police it.

Since there is no way to appropriate police it, it does remain illegal. However what is "illegal" doesn't define morality, nor does it accurately portray "stealing". At one point in time assisting slaves as they attempted to flee for their freedom was also "illegal". The legality of something does not define it's morality.

I've already deleted Ed's CD and I will not be purchasing it.

Had I purchased it, only to find that the album is horrible, isn't that also injustice? I'm guessing no because you're all about padding Ed's wallet. I'm a capitalist, a true capitalist, and I believe that people should EARN their revenue. Ed, and "Alive" will not earn my money. As such, I no longer have that content on any of my equipment. No one is stealing in this scenario.

I find it laughable that you act butt-hurt about people taking a pre-release listen to Ed's CD and call it stealing when you in fact are an administrator on a website that for years, has featured links to unauthorized bootlegs. The word hypocrite comes to mind.

Its' the old, break the law and try to justify yourself.

Would you prefer it if I just said "it isn't true LOL", seeing as that's the kind of justification you seem to think is acceptable.

Between the 2 of us, as far as I know I'm the only one who has been in a band and been on the performers side of the coin. Someone on Ed's level sure as hell aint gonna miss my $25 and considering the album isn't even on my hard drive anymore I'm not sure what it is you think I stole. If someone else had put the album on youtube and I listened to each track on youtube would you still have the same reaction, would I have been the one that stole it then? Because esentially it's the same thing as what I'd done. It's not like I'm carrying it around on my ipod laughing it up because Ed will be homeless soon without my $25 whilst I'm getting hours and hours of enjoyment from his music.

There's no point trying to reason with him. To him the be all and end all is Ed getting paid. Like I said previously to Nick seeing Ed getting his paycheque must be the equivelant of watching your kids opening their presents on Christmas morning. Denying Ed money in Nick's eyes is probably the greatest crime anyone can commit and I doubt there is any way anyone can reason with him otherwise.

You're ignoring everything Pokey and I say, why?

He made a good point, had I listened to the album in full on Youtube, that someone else may have posted, and determined that I did not like it and would not buy it, would that be wrong or stealing?

I DO NOT HAVE ALIVE ON MY HARD-DRIVE!!!

What have I stolen?

Systematically, downloading something to listen to it and delete is no different than streaming.

I don't steal music, but I sample it to determine if it's something I'm going to buy. Historically I've blind-bought everything +Live+ has put-out, but something told me Ed's work was going to be different.

He does this all the time dude. He only half reads posts and chooses to ignore things he just has no answer for. Instead he'll take one or 2 lines from a post that he thinks he can make some kind of reply to and it usually just blows the entire argument out of context. Hell even by his own admission in another thread he skims through posts.
It makes arguing with him extremely futile and annoying because whenever he's beaten on something he just ignores it like it didn't happen ... kinda like how Ed just ignores anything Live/TGF related ... I can really see why he gets the nickname Ned.

I'm in a band and I download music all the time!! I even make a decisive part of my income playing and recording music!! I've had too much beer to know what I'm arguing for!!!! I don't even think Ed's album would be worth the 2 minutes it would take to download...

I was in 7 bands and 2 of them released EPs that were for sale. One band was situated in Scotland. So when I came back to Russia I had no other choice, but to istribute the music we made for free, while on the Isle it was sold.

Fuck, I am a two-way criminal

But I am more interested to see Nick getting the CD, disliking it, and then doing his best to wirte nice reviews.

Deumn, hard times coming our way
