I downloaded for this reason as well. Guys, if we pay for this album it will be enabling Ed. He needs to learn that you have to be true to yourself and to your fans. I'm not paying for it because the more money he gets from this shit the more likely he is to continue down this route. If he fails utterly he might just apologize to the rest of the band and come back for a reunion album at some point.

Due to the random PMs of a certain board member, I'm sure about 5 of you are downloading it right now.

Sorry, I can't follow you down that road. I'll buy Ed's first album to see if it appeals to me more than it has to others. My taste in music varies greatly so it's possible I may end up liking it. If I do, great, I get two "new" artists to enjoy. If I don't, well then, I'm out around $15 or so. No big loss in the grand scheme of things. And I'll still have TGF to enjoy.

Because enabling Ed is, in real terms, equivalent to condoning pedophilia.

Allegedly.

I always download something before I buy it. Why should I waste my money to buy trash?

So if people download TGF's album and don't pay for it, you'll have no problem with it?

If I like the cd, then I buy it. That's the catch. If its a complete piece of shit, like Alive, then I won't buy it.

Yup. If I had actually paid cash for Alive, Ed would be stealing from me.

You never, ever downloaded a song/album for free (illegally), then, Nick?

First off....Im still holding out for the album but I have listened to the samples of The Great Beyond and Rome on itunes. Imade my opinion of Rome earlier. Not too impressed so far. As for TGB, well the live footage on you tube is still absolutly horrible but...... the actual album sample is growing on me. Ill still wait till the album for the final opinion but it has potential now I think. wow.gif

I personally wouldn't. Why should I? I'll download it without paying for it, and then if I like it (which I know I will) I'll buy it. But I doubt I'll get the chance because I probably wont be near a computer when/if it leaks early, but still you get my point. If I'd really liked Ed's album I'd have bought it ... I see what Badman is saying how sales are only going to encourage him to keep making shitty music, but in the end unless you've organised some kind of mass protest then you can only control what you yourself do and whether you buy the album or don't it isn't going to make a difference.
Ed certainly didn't produce anything worth my money, so he ain't getting it. Ed also has more money than I'll ever have so there's no way I feel guilty.

Can you honestly say that you don't have the copies of Grace and Zion and/or Acoustic Everlasting Love (Drink) that were ripped? What about any bootleg outside of the ones that were for sale (ironically, perhaps illegally)? Why aren't you the legal-music police when it comes to Ed?

The music industry has changed with the internet. It's illegal to download music unauthorized, like many have of Alive, but it's not immoral if we just want to determine whether or not we like it. If there were such a system that would allow people to listen to a full album I'm sure the record companies would oblige.

Long story short, wake up, get with the year 2010 and don't be defensive of Ed's product which isn't worth the asking price.

I know I won't keep my copy and most here won't waste the space on their harddrives, smartphones and ipods for Ed's Kelly Clarkson impersonation.

I don't like TGF's music, and I promise you I won't steal their stream when it leaks. I also didn't download Zion or Grace as they leaked either. Just because you can steal music in 2010, doesn't mean it is the right thing to do. And just because you may not like Ed's music, doesn't make it okay to steal.

Sorry you don't like the album Steve, but I'm excited to actually purchase the album on July 6th. I love the clips that I've heard, and I am pretty positive I am going to dig the album.

Considering I bought 2 bootlegs from Ed's site that may not be legal then stealing this album makes Ed and I almost even. The difference is I'm sure Ed is enjoying the money that he's making from the albums/bootlegs where as I didn't enjoy the album and if I had bought it then I'd be left feeling pretty ripped off ... it's the old try before you buy.
