Oh for fuck's sake.

I don't think the song titles were bad at all. That's why I picked them: to show that a song title doesn't have to be obvious to be good. Hence the remarks
Are you responding to me or Pokey? I know you've quoted me, but if you are responding to me, you didn't read my post all the way through.

Read your post all the way through. Still misunderstood what you were getting at by naming those songs. Thank you for the clarification.

Hi!

Could someone PM me with info on where I can find this album? You know I won't be paying for it.

No kidding. I think the English expression is "nitpicking".

I am assuming that no one here majored in literature, or we wouldn't be getting badman's complaint

The reason I get to nitpick on his lyrics is that he used to be great!

This is how...I'll... go out tonight... dressed in blue... by... the book tonight ~TBD

We could actually have a discussion as to what the above lyrics mean but the strange blackbird lyrics are just random. I doubt he knows what they mean. I nitpick because I am saddened that this is what he considers deep.

Soul Whispers isn't quite what it wants to be in terms of being a cool song title. Trying a little too hard, just a little too awkward... doesn't quite work. It's not awful, just awkward.

That was pretty much my point. And my liking it to some Chinese artists making English songs was just in that awkwardness of the way it sounds. Wasn't trying to make sweeping statements or anything. But because it's awkward I don't like it, there's good awkward and bad awkward hehe.gif

Hey since when are you from Jamaica?? You better quit it with the typical English slang and start giving us some cool English rasta stuff now, ya feel me blood?

Thanks for the link, LM. Glad I got to hear the whole song. I quite like the song. It's not TDTH Ed in terms of lyrical quality but it's got a good sound to it. Gonna snipe that one off of iTunes when it comes out stateside.

Ed's sounds pretty damn good. It's a shame he's lost his ability to write compelling songs.

I gave it a few spins last night, not sure it will get too many more,so here is the review.

Firstly,I've loved/liked all of Live's music. Even though SFBM was by far there weakest album I still enjoyed it,just not on the scale of the other epics, each album was a step down after TDTH,but I still loved it. Therefore my expectations of this album were still that the album would be enjoyable, expected generic, but Ed has a great voice,so I expected it would still be good.

Unfortunatly it's not good. It can only be described as terrible. SFBM was predictable soft pop rock...but it was catchy still at least. I thought Ed's album would at least be cheesily catchy. It's not. It is horrible!

It's like he's decided within two weeks to put an album together, and written the songs overnight, and got some C grader to put the music together for it. It reminds me of someone just making up a song on the spot...there are no catchy choruses, the verses are terrible...Ed always delivered great verses until the latter years, then he came up with decent/catchy choruses at least. There is none of this here,it's a spectacular fail!

The positives-
Grace- This is a very good song. A good choice of single(the only choice). I love the chorus,I love Ed's voice. It's generic, but it's good generic.
After Grace, there is hardly a positive. Zion is ok,but it's still weak, not much there to keep you listening after a couple of spins.
Soul Whispers sounds intriguing at the start,I thought it might build up into something good, but then it falls away into garbage like the rest of the album.Hardly a positive

The Negatives- The rest of the album. It's not catchy,it's not spiritual,it's not well constructed, lyrically horrible, lost his character in his vocals,it's forced, horrible horrible music, nothing music.

If Ed burnt his life long friends and killed off one of the great bands to embark on a solo career aimed at making $$,then it what disastrous decision. If Grace doesn't gain momentum, then this album will be forgotten about in a matter of weeks, and it's hard too see where he can go from here. It's sad too see where he gone his musical career with this effort, and this quite possibly could be the end of the road for Ed,which is sad because he was so brilliant.

2.5/10

Even if Grace DOES gain momentum, what is there to back it up after that? Zion. That's it then.

Thanks pokey.

Just gave it a few listens. I gave it a chance. It is utterly disappointing. I definitely will not be spending a penny on this rushed, poorly written pos. Ed and his music took a huge leap towards obscurity in my book with this release. I know he's trying to make a living but come on now.

For the love of god Ed, please stop writing new music already.

No matter how this album does, why would it be the end of the road for Ed? He can tour solo acoustic or with a full band as Ed Kowalczyk of Live for many years to come. Ed has built a following based on his success with Live, whatever comes after is just gravy.

Ed will always be known as the lead singer of Live and can tour based off of that.

You complain about people "stealing" Ed's solo album, but you'd be perfectly fine with him marketing himself as a member of band that he is no longer a member of? You'd also be fine with the false-marketing that would lead people to the concert, expecting significant Live material, only to be fed Ed's 2010 impersonation of Kelly Clarkson.

If I didn't follow the band closely, and saw an advertisement to see "Ed of Live" and then paid money to hear him perform shit like "The Great Beyond", I'd be pissed off and certainly feel "stolen" from.

Something tells me you aren't going to understand a lick of my post.

I also can't understand why you're cool with him using the "Live" fanbase and milking it like it's his dirty cow to milk. Aren't you supposedly a fan of the band, or do you only like V, BOP and SFBM?
