I'll be comin' in with a review shortly, the short version is that it was badass and that the guys are extremely cool.

I hate to be a disappointment but we didn't hook up any video of them, we got some great pictures in between rocking out way too hard though.

Got to see the boys at Summerfest on Friday night. First let's get the one and only bad thing out of the way - the crowd was pretty small. Shame for the guys, but kinda expected considering they don't have an album out yet, and Public Enemy, Tom Petty, Jeff Beck, and 311 were on at the same time.

Now onto the good stuff - these guys f%^&ing rock!!!! New songs are awesome, sound was good. Favs were probably Closer, Sing and Nothin' But Love. CT was going off, Martin has an amazing voice with a ridiculous range, Sean was killing the solos, Pat was tight on the bass (would like to see some slap in there at some stage!) and Gracey was his usual killer self, driving the whole thing. They sound tight, sound really good live, and had a lot of fun on stage.

Got to meet them after the show, got my t-shirt signed by all of them and have a quick chat. Album in September, tour to follow.

To compound things, their stage was on the far end so there was no walking traffic and the festival didn't really advertise them as members of Live and Candlebox. A lot of people asked me about my shirt throughout the day and were a lot more interested when I mentioned Live and Candlebox. I thought they should have gotten a 8pm slot on a stage with someone like Jeff Beck or 311, that would have really gotten them a lot more exposure.

That said, they put on one hell of a show and really seemed to have a great time. They were tight and really going all out all over the stage. It was great to see Kevin go all out, and Chad T. was getting his stomp on in all the right places. He and Sean really interacted a lot during the solos and seemed to be having a great time. As for the setlist, it was similar to the York show with a bit of a different order. They played a cover but we had had a lot of beer throughout the day so I can't quite recall it since it wasn't a song that I was really familiar with. However, it was a damn cool version and we rocked out to it!!

After the show we met all of the guys and talked to Sean and Gracey for a little bit before they were swooped away by management. We were the only people we saw with TGF shirts on already, and they seemed genuinely happy to be getting the support. We told them all how much we dig the new songs.

Here are some photos, there are also some of the other bands we watched (and made fun of) but there are some cool shots of TGF there:

Sounds good bro! Can't wait to eventually see them! The idea of Chad getting his stomp on to songs that aren't Live songs is strange but I like the idea of it. He sure as hell wouldn't be stomping if he wasn't into it!

Oh wait ... I've just seen something, it's all over:

Album and tour is about to be cancelled guys, this is the end of TGF, they're mocking Kevin sad.gif

Chad did quite a bit of stomping at the Webster Hall show. Thought the man was going to put his foot through the floor. If stomping is any measure of how much CT likes the music he's playing, well, he really loves the new album.

hmm wasn't quite sold on this one, KM's vocals seemed a little off and CT wasn't quite going as off as I thought he'd be. Still light years ahead of Ed's crew doing the song, but yeah.

It sounded fine. The performance was eh though. I heard that Summerfest drew 100,000 fans that night, but only roughly 100 turned out for TGF's performance. Probably accounted for the the less than inspired stage show.

Ed and TGF will be playing smaller crowds in most venues than they would with Live. To me, that is primarily why a Live reunion will eventually happen.

Why would they want a reunion when Ed has no want to return to the days when they were kings?
