This is exactly what I thought! I was like "Cool! fire, mountains... This could be a good... ah crap"

It could have been the greatest song he's ever written if it was about setting Black Mountain on fire as a metaphore for how bad the last album was (but the rest of this album would need to be better than SFBM to make that work, and its not).

From the sample, that could be one of my favs. I can't wait to hear the full version.

I've noticed in the album he keeps reusing phrasing.

What are we fighting for - Stand
Rise up (DWLF) - Stand
Shelter from the storm - Just in time
Love shines - Rome (Basically Love Shines II)
What dream have we here? - Everlasting love and Fire on the mountain
Spread your wings - Soul whispers

Wonder why...

Also "Take my up to zion" is in both Zion and Purifier.

I guess because his choice of subject matter has become so limited, he only writes about a couple of things now. Just comes down to a lack of creativity.

It's certainly not the worst song on the album, but he completely fucked the intro. I'm sure you'll disagree.

It's better than SFBM. Take Heaven out of boP and it is as good as BoP.

Sigh... just wish there was ONE song that wasn't religious... I listened to it in my car and had to keep turning it down in traffic angry.gif

I'm not going to have a bunch of bikers laughing at me. I changed it to the Doobie brother's China Grove when that happened.

As good as BOP? Really? I'd say BOP alone having Like I Do and Lighthouse puts it miles ahead of this.

In a way I still kinda like BOP, it's about as pop as Live/Ed should have gone. Everytime I See your face and Out To Dry I think are examples of Ed doing the pop stuff the best he can.

Lay with me lady, youre driving me crazy, I promise you all of my life......these things that sustain me, oh how they drain me...........

Hey Nick, I find it funny you say you've only heard samples......for sure Ed has given you an advance copy and you're being coy as a bug on a rug.

I dunno, I don't think Ed and Free go well together.

I'll leave you guys with this mysterious lyric that I still can't figure out... I remember back in the day I thought about his lyrics because they were complex and deep. At least we know they are still complex!

"yes the song of my soul is sweet like a blackbird 'gainst a night sky... human eyes can't see. but to feel it is salvation so wild and free, no destiny... no destiny." ~ Soul Whispers

How the hell is a blackbird sweet?? heynow.gif

Something about four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie.....however, in Ed's nursery rhyme, the birds apparently don't sing.

Don't know about that. I'd say Chad, Chad, and Pat did a pretty good job of setting Ed free. Oh, you meant free as in beer. Right, gotcha! thumbsup.gif

Pokey, Badman - would you say that the best thing about 'Alive' is that it's making you appreciate SFBM a bit more dislike SFBM a bit less?

I think comparing Alive to BOP insults BOP which, whilst not the greatest, has some decent songs.

BOP > Alive
