We're not talking about TGF. We're talking about Ed.

And I personally like Ed's new music. But people keep comparing Ed's new stuff to classic Live, and it really isn't fair. New work has to stand on its own.

You brought Shinedown into the mix, and that singer is all lip-synching and autotune. You can keep him smile.gif

You honestly think what TGF is doing now is a quarter as good of what Live did at their best? It isn't even as good as average Candlebox.

Actually I think that its certainly comparable. Maybe not at the same height, but much closer compared to the last 10 years, which is fucking amazing considering. The show I saw at Fat Daddys had more energy then anything I've seen from Live in 12+ years. I will say one thing, the guys are much better musicians now compared to the 90's and even the early 00's. Ed on the other hand hasn't progressed, he's regressed severely. That's the truly depressing part of it all.

If Chad Taylor is so much better now, why did he demote himself from lead guitar?

Lead singer of Shinedown lip synching: (Listen to him struggle with the verses, but when the chorus comes no strain pitch-perfect).

He didn't demote himself you assclown. If you actually had any clue what you were talking about, you would be fucking dangerous. Sean is a very good guitar player. Its admirable that after all of these years as the lead player, that Chad is willing to step back and let Sean have some fun in the spotlight as the lead guy with certain parts. They both play lead, and they both play rhythm. Chad does most of the technical fills in songs as well.

Ed's work on his own kind of began while he was still in Live though. What he's doing now is, really, a continuation of SFBM, that he did with Live.

In terms of Shinedown, you're horrifically ignorant if you think Brent Smith is all lip-syncing and autotune. I don't need to defend them.

Brett definitely lipsynchs during certain songs, and Chad Taylor did demote himself. He was the lead guitarist for Live the past 20 years, and he has let Candlebox's touring guitarist take over the majority of the solo's for TGF.

Brent has lip synced, but there's a huge difference between doing it in concerts for a period of time, and being all lip sync and auto tune. You're wrong to think he is. Seriously wrong, and there's no point debating it. Brent is an amazing singer who has at times fallen back on a little help for whatever reasons (great fatigue from the hundreds of shows a year they do, label pressure etc).

Ok which one of us has seen them perform live and which one of us hasn't? Think about it really quickly. I can tell you with 100% conviction that you're entirely fucking wrong. As for his stepping aside, since he didn't demote himself, its called being in a band. Give and take. There is another talented guitar player in the band, and Chad is giving him the opportunity to shine. Chad certainly isn't standing in the background by any means like you are suggesting. There was no demotion you twat. Its called not being an egotistical maniac and allowing for there to be two talented guitar players in the band. Mark Tremonti is a sick and insanely good guitar player, however on some songs Myles Kennedy takes the lead or solo. Myles is also a good player, but certainly not as good as Mark.

The reason Chad lets Sean do the solos, is because Chad isn't confident enough in himself that he can pull them off well. He said so himself in an interview earlier this year.

[i]When a musical interlude called for a guitar solo Taylor hesitated, “I’ve never had the passion to play solos, I think we should find someone who does.” Martin recommended[Candlebox sideman, Sean Hennesy, as the perfect guy for the job. [i]

He never had the passion to play solos? He's a fucking lead guitarist!

Like I asked, which one of us has actually seen them perform? I'm still waiting for you to answer me. The solos were split pretty evenly for your information. Chad also didn't say he wasn't confident, he said what amounted to him not enjoying them and that he'd rather play the big riffs and fills in songs because he gets into them more. Example being Lakini's Juice. That's Chad's style because then he can get into the music and stomp around. Like I said earlier, again you don't have any damn clue what you are talking about and instead are just talking out of your ass.

Yeah...he doesn't say he has no confidence in playing solos. He has no PASSION to do so.

He would rather leave it to Sean.

Does that make any sense, seriously? Lead guitarists are known and judged by their ability to perform solos. It is the main part of the job description.

That is like Kobe Bryant saying that he has no passion for taking the last shot of the game. He rather just be one of the guys on the team when it counts.
