Thanks to Nick for finding this.

I am really looking forward to the album so it's great to hear a little bit of what will be on it.

To me Ed's on Soul Whispers sounds like it did way back. I think I will enjoy this album very much.

wow it just sounds so ... generic. Stand and Grace are just Idol songs to a T.

Still think Zion will be my favorite on the album, although the last 2 tracks don't sound so bad. Soul Whispers is a terrible name, but the music sounded probably more interesting than anything else in the samples. The drumming all just sounds so bland and 1-dimensional. Ramy is just no Gracey.

Gonna give a little play by play style review:

Drive: I actually like this less hearing the studio version which is a shame. The concert clip of it sounded like a decent song, it comes off too "paint by numbers" in this studio clip.

The Great Beyond: no.gif

Grace: Obviously nothing has changed from what I had heard till that clip. Still a decent song, his best choice for a lead off radio single.

Stand: Meh, it's a skippable track.

Drink: Better acoustic, but it's not my cup of tea in either form.

Zion: Nothing's changed, but it's still a quality track.

In Your Light: Probably his best choice as a second radio single, IMO, especially for adult AC. I would like to hear the full version.

Just in Time: No. This and TGB are just rancid. I want no part of either.

Rome: Now we're getting into some more interesting songs. Would like to hear the full version of this song.

Soul Whispers: This is the one song out of all the rest I can say with a certainty I'll snipe off of iTunes. Sounds great in the clip.

Fire on the Mountain: Better then most of the songs, but a weak closer. I'd have rather Soul Whispers been the closer, but it's hard to make that judgment without hearing the full version of either song.

Overall probably not a CD I'll purchase, depending on how the full tracks sound. I'm going to nab Soul Whispers for sure, though, and possibly grab Rome as well. FotM and IYL are potential grabbers too, but I'd need to hear them in full before I put down the $0.99.

Soul Whispers sounds nice to me, but from hearing the clips I'm gonna pass on this album, too bad. Wanted it to be something I'd enjoy but his pop-rock direction isn't for me.

And I'm not dissing him or the music just saying it ain't for me.

I agree, but I personally would put the song on the Christian Contemporary format ASAP.

The first time I listened I didn't even notice the change over from Soul Whispers to Fire on the Mountain...

That pretty much says it all, no songs that really stand out... just my opinion.

Ed's voice sounds great, wish all the songs didn't remind me of David Cook/Chris Daughtry/Kris Allen/Adam Lambert/Kelly Clarkson/etc.

Hmm... sounds like Grace and Zion are still gonna be the best tracks, but there could be a few surprises in there. I'll get it and see, for sure.

Mainly agree with Pokey, I did notice the drumming as being bland. It sounds very much like the inoffensive rock that you get on the radio and while I don't mind that, I think it's a shame Ed has targeted that sort of sound/audience considering what he has done previously. Sounds like there's some nice melodies in there, but I can imagine most of the material sitting on the same level without pulling too many surprises. Those clips didn't surprise me, though Soul Whispers could be a decent track. Can't say I'm in a rush to get this though, if I do at all shrug.gif

My personal favorite is Drive so far, but Soul Whispers is very intriguing.

Zion and Grace best Drive, for me. But Drive's hook is better than most others, or so it sounds from the clips.

I must say, I know we've had all this before with BOP and SFBM and such... but I am disappointed he's going down this route, with these kinds of songs, when we know he's capable of so much more. Ghost, Gas Hed, TBD, Where Fishes Go...

*sigh* ... good old times.
