I think the TGF fans are starving for the album, lots are asking for the date. Consider me wanting it above all.

But the amount of people posting on their FB page is just a small % of the 12,000 fans. Like I said, I'm hope I'm wrong and both sides do well. I do however expect TGF to outsell Ed in first week comparisons.

EDIT: Plus, if you look at their music section Honest Man only has 3,188 plays and Trecedim only has 2,277 plays. It's nothing against them, but it's always hard to tell if people that "like" pages on FB are actual fans of a band.

My honest feeling is that the albums will just be used as touring tools in the US. They may sell decently for Indie releases, but I'd be shocked if either release is a huge seller domestically.

From what I can tell of Facebook, "like"-ing something is about as genuine as relationship with the total strangers listed as "friend".
That's not to say that both bands might not do well, just that Fb is only a portion of the audience.

They created their Facebook page over 6 months before Ed started his. It is pretty close considering.

for someone so concerned in the marketing and sales side of music, how could EK let this one slip?

6 months later you say? Why? Who's fault was that?

Facebook is a pretty popular medium, especially if you want to respond individually to fans.

Howcome we don't hear TGF 'fans' coming out and suggesting EK (and his marketing team) 'copying' TGF by marketing via Facebook?

but when TGF does something that EK has done (whether good or bad) you immediately attack it.

Heavy.

lol dude the best was the deleted thread where Nick claimed that TGF copied him/Ed because they requested fans suggest them to people on the same day slightly after Nick did it hahaha Like somehow facebook created the "suggest to friends" link and no one had dared use it until Nick did and then anyone else caught using it was copying Ed ... man that was actual laugh out loud stuff. Nick I think deleted the thread in the end because he realised how absolutely ridiculous the accusation was, but still .. good times haha

Ed messed up not having a Facebook earlier, but seems to made up a lot of ground in a short period of time. TGF isn't the only artist who has Facebook, the is a fan of Ed on Facebook(because they are pre-occupied with the man), while Ed doesn't follow them.

If Ed puts up a poorly designed billboard in AC, I'll be the first to say he is copying TGF.

i know you've made fun of the billboard in numerous posts.. but cant not for the life of me ever recall your rationale as to why its a "waste of money" or "poorly designed".. articulate please..

Too true.

This question has been bugging me as well.

What is a good design, Nick?

What is wrong with the TGF billboard being hanged where it is?

Why do you think that the HUGE TGF logo is seen worse than small Live and Candlebox ones?

What is wrong with putting a promo picture and promo information, corresponding with the advertisement etiquette (which would be impossible for you to answer I figure, as you have no professional education in this sphere and still keep judging)?

Answer, please, because you have NEVER answered to any single post of mine and no questions are covered as well.

I think he said he thought it was a waste of time because there is no album release date and barely any tour dates.

I guess he doesn't seem to think "album and tour in September" is enough. Personally I think it's great, it's not like putting the billboard up cost them millions, it helps get the word and name out there .. they have a single released, a couple of songs out there .. it's not as if someone will see it and go:

"hmm The Gracious Few, I liked Live and Candlebox, didn't know there was a new band .. might check this out"

*jumps on google, types in 'The Gracious Few'*

Every single day there is a ton of traffic going back and forth on the AC Expressway. It's a great way to get the name out there.

vs.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22th...l=&oq=&gs_rfai=

hmm.. someone needs to do a little search engine optimization..

but before Nick jumps in here, i'll just say it.. TGF has been at this 6 months longer than Ed..

oh wait.. Ed has been at this for 38 years, 11 months and 25 days.. then again, Al Gore didnt invent the internet until 1989-

oh no, i've gone crosseyed.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GU0XiLOXdP0
