speaking of not being to the forum in ages,

I did notice the post about Ed's bootlegs and the lawsuit thing. I suppose in the context of what's gone on with LIVE, it is not THAT surprising to finally know more of the truth - but still, when you turn around and remember that this is the same guy who wrote and performed with CT, CG, PD as LIVE through MJ, TC, SS and TDTH - you can't help but feel shattered.

What a waste of a reputation - was it worth it, I wonder? We now have to watch the remainder of LIVE re-invent themselves and bring out this venting kind of rock. I don't mind, cos TGF is great. Awesome for us, cos this is what we've been calling out for, for years.

But damn, man. What.the.fuck.

Edit: sorry for going Off-Topic in the Off-Topic section.

Ed my friend, it is generally one of THE most annoying sounds you're ever bound to hear.

However, when the Bafana are playing, and the Vuvuzela are in tandem, it is an awesome part of partizan football tradition down here - and when you're in the midst of it, it is difficult to deny its awesomeness.

I am not a fan of the vuvuzela, like many S. Africans, but few will deny that it is sometimes an absolute 12th man when the local team are out there, and it spurs them on.

Interesting to note: last night was RSA's first defeat in 13 matches home and away.

On Dutch tv they turned the stadium sound down, cos people had been complaining about it.

You're lucky you can go see that many matches, sharpz. smile.gif

Aren't tickets pretty expensive?

I suppose for many people in rural areas they are, but 140ZAR is about 12GBP and roughly 15 Euro. So I suppose it isn't that bad. The 140ZAR tickets are Category 4 (the lowest, cheapest cat) and only sold to SA citizens - I had this category for the Holland v Denmark game.

For Saturday's game, I have CAT3 tickets which are a lot more pricey at 560ZAR which is around 50GBP or roughly 55-60EURO.

the bus ticket to and from the stadium is 12ZAR with return. It is quite affordable - but not for everyone.

By the by, CAT1,2 and 3 are sold to everyone including S.Africans - Cat4 is exclusively for SA citizens, however there were many Dutchies in the cat4 section, which indicates that many SA ticket holders sold their tickets to foreigners and dutch at a premium price. I'm not fond of that practice, because I've noticed non-soccer fans in SA trying to make a quick buck of genuine football fans from overseas.

Edit: Orange vuvuzelas are sold out in Durban at the moment. Absolutely sold out.

For those of you who know any Dutchies who are in SA at the moment without tickets for the match on Saturday in Durban, tell them to check online from now till up to one hour before the match -

FIFA Last Minute Ticket Sales (LMS) have Category 1,2 and 3 available for the game. They don't have to purchase tickets from locals for inflated prices - buy direct from FIFA without issues.

Glad you're enjoying the WC sharpz! Think the tournament is at last beginning to heat up now, after a dour first round of matches. Sorry to see SA struggling - it's a shame when the hosts don't do well. And any chance you could tell your countrymen to stop playing those fucking trumpets? thanks!

Watching a report from Durban right now. The first thing they show is a lavatory. And across - some building where the first congress was seated and there is royal mail now.

Watching it for sure to waste some time before the match. The only one I will be able to watch today because of damned office work! angry.gif

not a chance they'd listen to me, bud. They love that shit.

Edit: On SA's performance so far - it's a tough group, with Uruguay and Mexico definitely the best (better) teams - France have had it, their days are over - with the current coaching staff etc. We don't have enough experience at this level of the game, and we certainly are naive at times defensively and in the final third we have no variation in our play and lack that spark. Goals win you games, and there isn't enough in this team at the moment.

It would have been nice to remain in the competition, but I fear that on the biggest stage our frailties will be exposed - as with all the teams.

That's a very fair and honest assessment of your team. I remembered they played well at the Confederations Cup and I expected a bit more from them than this probable early exit. But Uruguay and Mexico are tough opponents, nevermind France. SA did score my favourite goal of the tournament so far though - that opening screamer from shabalalalallalalala or whatever his name was! A magical strike nod.gif

Yeah it was a pretty good strike. I had the chance to take a penalty with the Jabulani ball outside the stadium in Soccer City on Monday, and I can tell you, it is a really lightweight football. So, hats off to Simpiwe Tshabalala for getting it on target!

As for SA, it is almost like waking up to a nation in mourning. Everyone was really upbeat last week and this week since the defeat, and possible elimination, the stuffing seems to have been knocked out of people supporting the Bafana.

It is going to take something special to re-ignite the people's interest in the WC locally, if Bafana get knocked out, which seems a real probability now.

I just hope everyone gets behind the team, win or lose, and then enjoy the rest of the tournament - because it is once in a lifetime for SA, but as hosts, not as a competitior - because we can always qualify for another tournament, but I doubt Africa will ever host another WC.

Lightweight?

Must give it a try some day. I still prefer roteiro over any other ball to play with.

I remember the Roteiro fondly as my local non-league team and I won the non-professional cup in 2004 with that ball!

It is the perfect football, weight and flight and bounce! Nice to lay shots into!

True. Could not pretty much cope with the curls and swirls while being a goalie though lol.gif good to be an attacking left winger and shoot as much as possible.

Damn, I need a game.
