I think that the number of posters taking pot shots is being way overblown.

I read this thread yesterday, but by the end of it was too tired to post anything - I meant to post something now - but again, what can I post that hasn't already been said?

I think we (excluding Nick), had an idea of the kind of things that might/might not have gone down - the regular posters (excluding Nick) have been hinting and discussing these thoughts for some time now - so it's not really that new to us - but still, when I read that - How shocking is that shit, man?!

Fuck. no.gif

I am going to pop that in and watch it. I remember asking myself why is this an Ed only interview on a greatest hits video disc. Some of his tone was very, I, I, I centric. I knew things werent good at this juncture.

wondered that too at the time, but I was stoked with the DVD and stuff so I didn't really bother. There was no smoke, so to speak.

I can't remember when I last watched the interview, but I do remember him speaking about TDTH and V, and about how he pushed certain ideas - like the lyrical content and the album name, respectively. I could be wrong.

Ok, so I know people are going to think I am crazy for saying this but the fact that we now know for the most part what happened that led to he demise of LIVE with the "secret contract" and that another person (Levin) was involved, now leads me to believe even more that LIVE will one day reunite. Yes it was was douchebag thing to do to screw the guys over about money but Ed himself may have been misled by Levin as well and thought he was doing nothing wrong. I know he demanded full control of the band and that sucks. Obv, Ed on his own is no LIVE as we know it but that was not illegal and not really that rare in the music business. Im still pissed after reading what happened and support TGF. I will listen to Eds new music and give it a chance but if its anything like SBFM it will be garbage very soon.

I have met Ed twice and both times he was a dick to me but I never gave it much thought because I just thought he was tired and busy. It kinda pissed me off when I saw his solo show here in Atlanta last summer and took his setlist. I asked him to sign it and date it because me and my fiance had just gotten engaged then the week before. I told him that and asked him to say congrats on it or something. What did he do? " oh wait where did you get that, you are not supposed to have that man"! He was seriously mad at me. I kept it anyway fucker! However, the one time I met Chad, Chad, and Pat they were all cool as shit! I even remember Chad Gracy talking to me how they were practicing She backstage when I was at a show in Charlotte in 2003. To bad we never saw it in concert.

Anyway, just my opinion but I think after a long time passes and everyone gets their due somehow these guys are going to put the past in the past and get back together. 20 years is a long time to just forget about and not look back. I hope Im right and hope Ed gets a wakeup call about his behavior and actions. If not, whatever then, we still have TGF! rockin.gif

I know rarely post and am a bit new to this forum but have been a LIVE fan since the beginning. Anyway, I keep hearing how Ed is such a dick to his fans when they meet him after shows and that the other guys have always been so great which is funny because I have met Ed several times after shows and he has always been super nice and always appeared to be genuinely happy signing autographs and chatting with fans both male and female alike. I can say that I have noticed his attention spans a bit longer with the "better looking" female fans, but what ever..... he's a guy I suppose. I have met Chad Taylor twice and he also was super nice and actually chatted with me for a good 20 to 30 minutes. Sad enough to say the one and only opportunity I had to be in the presence of Gracey and Pat for any length of time they both blew me off with a quick sig and a half heart-ed photo opp. Not to say that they are bad guys or anything, because that is more than what a lot of bands at their level will do after shows. These guys have always been one of the most accessible bands I have followed over the years. But I always found it strange that the consensus on this site seems to be the complete opposite from my experiences. Just thought I'd voice my 2 cents on since it keeps coming up.

You know whenever this whole Ed being a dick to his fans thing comes up I always remember something that Ed said once in an interview. It was something about the first time he met his idol, Bono, and he turned out to be such a great and welcoming guy. Ed said something to the affect of "if he had turned out to be an ass I think I would have gone and thrown myself off of a bridge." I always thought it was funny that he thought like that yet I have witnessed him on several occasions being a complete dick to his fans for whatever reason. That combined with his whole "gotta love each other" peace and tolerance bullshit is just a bit much considering he can't even treat some people like they are human beings. I'm not even talking about myself here, I have had pleasant experiences with him as well as bad but have witnessed way more that weren't anywhere near pleasant. He's a dick, I've always thought so but it never affected my love of his music until that too started to suck.

Anyway, all of this really doesn't matter to me much since like someone else mentioned, it was almost expected that he would do something like this. I kind of get the feeling he hasn't been true friends with the rest of the guys in quite sometime. I'm just happy that the other three are finally able to make the music that they want to make and that I get to hear it and enjoy it.

I can't remember the last time (which was probably the first time) I watched that DVD. I just have zero interest in anything after TDTH. I gave away V, BofP to a cousin. . I bought SFBM and well.. where is it? i dont know nor do i care. I rebought V and BofP jsut to complete my LIVE discography. I think I still have SFBM somewhere. And I not joking when I say I dont really know if I have it! and I know where every single CD I own is and I own thousands (do some of you kids even know what owning a CD is??? let alone cassette and vinyl)

Did Ed meet Bono when Live was successful?
I wonder if Bono would have been so nice if Ed had been a nobody.

This is in no way intended as a diss at Bono or an attempt to justify however Ed may or may not have behaved with his fans). I am just genuinely curious at how famous musicians and other celebrities relate to ordinary fans. And how this differs from the way that others perceive the same celebrities.

And, sort of OT, but I met a couple of photographers (not street paps, but those guys that do the events for WireImage and shit and they really disliked a couple of the big name actors who had a 'teen sex symbol' image. But when I saw those actors (I was working security at a film festival) they were actually really nice to their fans. They stayed outside for a long time signing and taking pictures - which then again caused them to be disliked by some of the audience at the movies inside because the picture started a few minutes late. You just can't make everyone happy. eh.gif

So I noticed this inverse ratio between making the fans happy and making the professionals happy with photo ops are crap.

I don't know where Live's rep with photographers and people working the venues, etc. stands and I'm curious.

Sorry for the digression, but this talk of Ed & the guys are nice/not nice when you meet them reminded me of this.

If I recall it correctly, he met Bono when he was in his teens
