QUOTE(SJN1279 @ Jun 14 2010, 2:24 pm) *

I do know that when Songs from Black Mountain didn't sell as many albums as they had hoped, they were very quick to past the buck onto Ed(which is fine). However, you can not then turn around and demand to take credit for the publishing rights to songs that you didn't have any hand in creating in the first place.

What facts tdo you have to back that up? When did that pass the buck onto Ed?

I have direct evidence to the contrary. After SFBM came out, I tried to get Chad Taylor to talk about SFBM and the lack of the sound from him, Gracey and Patrick. I talked to him backstage at the Electric Factory concert in Philadelphia. The man absolutely would NOT say anything bad about the project or Ed. This was a private conversation and it would have been easy for him to say something negative or complain, but he didn't. He was nothing but supportive, as a friend.

Nick, are you saying that the band had NOTHING to do with creating the music on SFBM? Not one note? Not the drum intro to Sofia? Not the guitar solo in Sofia or in You Are not Alone? What about the other recent projects, like Forever and Purifier, that certainly sound like C, C and P contributing? What about BoP - was that included in the secret contract? If so, what about Like I Do? No contribution whatsoever? Even if Ed wrote most of it, that's not enough. The band was a BAND. A BAND, do you get it? They were making and selling music as Live, to Live fans. And 3 of them thought that the existig contract that split the publishing 4 ways was still in effect. Ed was their friend and bandmate and for 20 years and they had agreements. Everything in Live was split 4 ways. And then behind their backs, Ed snuck off and made side deals and took all of the profits. What don't you get about that?

One thing is clear. Nick is not actually a "Live" fan. He has said that he mainly likes V, BoP and SFBM and Ed's solo work. And he has also said that Ed did all the work on those and the other 3 were basically session musicians backing Ed up. So Nick is and has always been an Ed fan. Not a Live fan.

I think it is ironic that when Nick first joined the online Live community, Jimmy Lang got him meet and greet passes and after the show, he went onto the SOY message board and trashed Ed claiming he treated him like crap and was clearly high on drugs. Nick got flamed like crazy by everyone on SOY and then he was actually, literally banned by Jimmy from the message board. Now he is blindly-loyal follower of Ed who runs the only remaining Live message board. Funny.

Another thing that is funny. Sally confirmed in a deleted thread that Chad, Chad and Pat have control of the band and the name Live and can continue as Live, and Ed was kicked out of Live and does not have the right to say he is from Live in the present tense. He can only say "formerly of Live" Since Nick started posting Facebook and Twitter messages for Ed, I can't tell you how many times I have seen him post "Ed Kowalczyk of Live". It irritated me every time, because I know he is not still "of Live" and Nick was saying that to get promotion and identification for Ed. Well if what Sally said is true, then it seems that maybe Nick, as Ed's agent, may have cause Ed some legal problems when Chad, Chad and Patrick sue him for those claims made on his Facebook page by his agent. And apparently from what Nick said in that deleted thread, Nick over-promoted Ed so much that Ed actually lost Facebook or Twitter subscribers. Maybe Ed's recruitment of Nick did him more harm than good.

The really funny thing is that the 2 most interesting and exciting things to happen on this message board in years are gotigrz's Christianity discussions and Nick's Ed discussions. Both arguments involve the exact same dynamic. Nick and gotigrz both have fundamentally the same affliction. And both arguments involved futile attempts at intervention by frustrated people trying to talk sense into minds that are about a permeable as a stone.

Both of you guys just make things up and argue about them, that's why you butt heads all the time. Give it a rest for the rest of us please.

Why because there is now a chance that Ed may actually may not be the total bad guy in this situation. That he in fact could have signed a publishing deal for songs that he was 100 percent responsible for creating? That Ed chose to stay quiet with details in public forums so that if there was an eventual lawsuit, he wouldn't have made unecessary public comments on the topic?

Two sides to every story.

But you were ready to throw Ed in jail for "stealing money" just a few hours ago. If you don't know the specifics of this "secret contract" why would you be willing to do that?

Perhaps because it was confirmed by C,C & P. But you've cleared that up. They're just a bunch of lying, bitter, vindictive, spineless, jilted bandmates. So we can't really believe them. Did I miss anything?

I really, really don't care.

If you are okay with someone signing a contract without telling their bandmates, then you have far bigger problems than anything happening on this message board.

And I would throw him in jail if I was a judge. IT's been stated here by some other important posters that he did in fact steal..i am only reiterating it.

Probably in your world, you would buy the judges and prosecution to keep yourself safe.

Oh how you wish this were true. Then you wouldn't have to face the inevitable crash of your idol and your world since your entire identity seems to be wrapped up in Eddie K.

I will answer these paragraphs one at a time:

-Chad Taylor's has blogged about Ed being responsible for Live's content this decade and that the albums were met with a resounding thud by the masses. That was in the intial email blog, and since then there have been numerous swipes about Ed "going soft" etc. Of course, he wouldn't badmouth the project to a random fan while he was out promoting the CD, that would just be idiotic.

-On the Songs from Black Mountain CD jacket, Ed Kowalczyk is credited with all music and lyrics.

-I own and love all of Live's CD's.

-Jimmy did get me passes, and Ed was not nice at all when I met him in 2004. I've met him 3 times since then (2006, 2009, 2010) and he has been a totally different person. He has been appreciative and cordial since that first meeting. I will admit being wrong about voicing my complaints in a public forum back in 2004. I was wrong to do it. I've since apologized to Jimmy, whether he accepted or not is totally up to him.

-What Ed can not do is call his new band LIVE. However he still is Ed Kowalczyk of Live.

-Actually when I took over Ed's Facebook he had roughly 5000 fans, and now he is approaching 10,000. I did overpost at first, but no long-term hurt was done.
