I dont think any personal details were divulged other than the pure business side of the wrong doings. Is that petty? Nope. Nick, is Ed paying you some of his stolen earnings....wow.

You know who else stole from the boys, whoever they paid for that billboard. lol.gif

Weren't you predicting TGF's debut album going double Platinum a couple months back?

I agree with MattyEagles.....

I was and that is my hope, but seeing the industry article on cd sales has made me temper that a bit. You never know, it might strike cord withreal rock fans and they may choose to buy TGF over some of the other garbage out there today. I'd like to combine digital sales & cd sales to see how it does....artistically it will be very well received.

Just trying to objectively look at the facts of the break-up. I can clearly see a creative difference and a struggle for creative control at the end of Live. I am sure that colored some of the feelings and strain at the end. Now, both parties are moving in different creative directions and it really suits both of them better than a bad marriage in Live.

What I can't get around, and I don't see how Nick or Ed can get around, are the statements about the secret contracts and demands for extra money behind the band's back. Either (1) it happened as Chad says it did, (2) none of it happened, or (3) it happened, but it was exaggerated and there is another side of the story that doesn't make Ed look bad.

I want to know where Ed stands on this, but he isn't going to address it. If Sally is correct about legal action being taken, then I am sure that Ed's lawyer has instructed him not to address these issues with anyone. That's why we haven't heard anything from Ed, not because he is some mature magnanimous guy. I doubt that he wants to stand buy and allow statements that he thinks are untrue go unchallenged when they can have a direct negative impact on his beloved career and business. By the way, I wouldn't be surprised if the legal actions and lawyers advice are the reason why TGF has suddenly done a 180 degree turn and become so supportive of Ed and his new projects in the FOL emails. If there is legal action, communications from both sides will be carefully scripted.

I asked where Nick stands on this, and I think he said he believes number (3).

I am sure that there is another side of the story. There is ALWAYS another side to every story. I am sure that Ed thinks he has another side to the story. The question is, is their any truth to Ed's side of the story, or is it just what he believes, because he is unable to see himself as being wrong and being entitled to take everything he was trying to take. I think that Ed believes he is right in doing whatever he did. It is human nature for people who do things that stir up hurt feelings in others to think in their minds that they were justified and they are on the side of the angels. Not many people screw other people over and think in their hearts that they know they are really a bad person doing bad things and they just don't care and don't have a conscience. They just can't see it objectively and they think they are right, even if they aren't. Eventually, through self-awareness and objectivity, they might see they were wrong and see how they hurt other people.

I don't think (2) is the answer because I don't think that Chad just made up the story and lied. Based on my direct, personal experiences with the honest, forthcoming character of Chad, Chad and Patrick, I tended to believe the story that Chad told. Particularly in the absence of any defense by Ed.

If Ed has his own side of the story, that doesn't make his side any more true than Chad's, even if Ed and Nick both believe it.

According to Sally, it sounds like a judge or jury may decide where the truth lies. Is this a publicly filed case or is it filed under seal? What court? What jurisdiction. If there is a case, the record should be publicly available.

There are other accounts about the break-up out there, but rational adults don't air their personal business on Twitter/Facebook.

I'd love to hear them, those "other" accounts of which you speak. Why don't you share them with us oh rational adult who doesn't have a clue what it's like to be blindsided by a friend of twenty some years.

I am sure Ed's been told to keep quiet if there are legal proceedings underway. It's probably none of the fans business regarding the outcome of this unless it proves some retribution for some. I simply don't care. There is some hurting that has to be healed in the Live family some day / some how. Time is needed.
I am simply happy with the fact that Chad, Chad & Pat can get back to their lifes energy and become whole again.

maybe in a few years we will have a tell-all book from both sides, or maybe even a song. Ed comes out with "I dont want you back", then a few months later we get the reply song from the other guys "well guess what ed, fuck you right back"

did anyone else get that or am i more drunk than i think>?

I have been a lurker in this forum for a few months now since i first heard the news of TGF. Before anyone flames me for what i have to say... let me say i have known Kevin and Sean for close to a decade now. I have travelled near and far to see both Candlebox and the Hiwatts (i think i am at like 40 shows or so). There are a two main reasons i do this, #1, Candlebox in concert is always nothing short of amazing. #2, The guys in the band, specifically Kevin, Sean and Adam are true class acts and some of the finest musicians and people i have met in the industry. I say this having previously worked in the music industry and interviewed and met quite a few alt and rocks bands (including Ed in 2000 who was nothing but polite to me).

I have a few thoughts on the whole CBOX/TGF debate and in no way speak for any guys in the band. Kevin loves playing shows, that is the most important thing to remember here. Yes CBOX is what got him to where he is now so why not continue to do what you can with them while there is demand. This is not effecting and TGF commitments and obviously the demand is still there with a full summer tour lined up. I have no doubt TGF shows will share the same intensity that i have come to expect from both CBOX and Live. As for Sean, he just loves playing music. I can think of nearly half a dozen bands he has played in since i have known him. Candlebox obviously, The Hiwatts, The Wetminster Abbey, The Kings Royal, Bad Donkey and a few more i am forgetting. His band the Kings Royal toured with CBOX and he played for both the opening band and head lining band for months. That just screams dedication to me. These guys give 100% to every project they play with everytime.

Let me close by saying i wish nothing but continued success for Candlebox, Live, TGF and EK. I can't wait for TGF album and tour, but until then i may hit another CBOX show or two.

Thanks for the input man! Expect to be told that you are wrong. smile.gif

Just out of curiosity, are the other members of Candlebox cool? You didn't mention them as being class acts so I was curious. I met Peter at a show and he seemed like a really nice guy but I was also giving him tons of compliments.

Pete and Scott are also a great guys. They tend not to frequent places that serve alcohol after shows like the other guys do so i really haven't spent much time with them. JOSH
