I seriously doubt that Ed or TGF will be successful now as they were with Live or Candlebox in the 90's.

It would make sense for Live to tour again at some point. The band hasn't taken a break in the past 15-20 years. Coming back in reunion form a couple years from now could be a decent moneymaker and be fun for the fans.

I doubt either group will be as successful as their bands were in the 90s, but that doesn't mean they won't be more successful than Live and Candlebox were in recent years.

Lets just see if Ed and TGF separately sell better than SFBM. I am willing to bet money that they both can outsell it.

It would only make sense for Live to get back together if none of the money allegations are true, which is something you are clearly willing to assume.

Probably not as CD sales are way down with the new digital age. Go read the post I linked from alt addiction discussing the record sales slump to all time lows. I think i will garner a lot f attention ad sell very well for this day & age. Let's wait and see Mr. Professor Billboard.

Weren't you predicting TGF's debut album going double Platinum a couple months back?

I agree with MattyEagles.....

Well, I bought my tickets to the Candlebox show.

Now back to your discussion on Ed vs. TGF kicking.gif

Songs from Black Mountain was #1 on the Netherlands chart, top 5 on the Australian chart, and #3 on the US Billboard IndieChart and finished just outside the Billboard top 50 in the US.

Not easy to beat....

I seriously doubt TGF or Eds cd will sell 500K copies. Thats not a knock on either group, its just the way things are in the musical landscape now. Very hard to sell copies without a major label's support. 0% chance either venture is nearly as successful, sales wise, as they were in the past.

This is very accurate Matty. I think the TGF process of marketing is grassroots to mainstream media.

Nick,

Why do you think that Ed is not with Live anymore?

I don't recall seeing what your view is on that.

I think there was a creative fallout, and that overtouring burned the band out.

I do honestly believe that Chad Taylor's email was one side of a story, and an exaggerated one at that. I don't believe either party was 100 percent innocent, and I found the sob story to be a pathetic attempt to gain sympathy.

That said after 20 years, it made sense for the guys to try something different.

but yet you don't have any reason to think it's only one side. You just can't Stand anything bad being said about your beloved EK. He offered absolutely nothing to counter what was said besides "it's not true LOL". So really any argument against what CT said is based purely on your own speculation which counts for nothing.

Wow! Your identity is so defined by Ed and Ed's music that there is nothing that can be said or done to change that. Questions about Ed aside, I find it truly amazing that one can identify with something or someone (other than God) so much.

You honestly think that The Gracious Few's album will rank with Live and Candlebox's best when it comes to sales and critical respect? You think the new band's fame will actually rival what they have already accomplished?

No way in hell.

Do you think Ed's album will rank with Live and Candlebox's best when it comes to sales and critical respect.

if that was what it was.. i.e., an attempt to gain sympathy, it worked for me

you call it pathetic, i would call it refreshing, raw honesty..

never in a million years would i have guessed that i would NOT have taken Ed's side..

but as i read the emails, the tweets, etc.. and came to terms w/the band's demise and let it all sink in.. i found myself inexplicably drawn to the boys.. even before we heard what their new music would sound like.. the snide tweets about Ed, while perhaps childish, stemmed from i believe was a deep emotional hurt.. and what did we get from Ed? silence.. perhaps silence is golden - but it also leaves folks to form their own narrative about what happened..

and in my narrative.. Ed is a douche..

I'm really hoping DA EKs albumn is a success.........that means he can begin to repay the money he stole from the other three soon. Would hate to see him loose his home, cars, campers, pretty much all he has to his name (and even that isn't worth too much these days). Wonder if he thinks the "goin up was worth the comin down"?

There are other accounts about the break-up out there, but rational adults don't air their personal business on Twitter/Facebook.

I dont think any personal details were divulged other than the pure business side of the wrong doings. Is that petty? Nope. Nick, is Ed paying you some of his stolen earnings....wow.
