I think Wendy is talking about the vuvuzela. But you can always switch the sound off, Dan tongue.gif

Whom are you supporting this time around btw?

Wendy, one of my best friends, a Dutchie, sent me a pic of a decorated street where I used to be while staying in Holland.. It is ALL ORANGE. And it is only a tine street with about 8-10 houses in the suburb of Leiden.

I mean... ALL ORANGE. Top to Earth and back

Hah... where in Leiden was that?

Seems to me a lot of streets are turning all orange.... Wish I could hibernate till August or something. Maybe I'll paint my house another color and root for another country,.... I dont know....
lol.gif

And yup, the vuvuzela is for free when buying groceries, a bike.... & so on and so on.... it's horrible... honest..... HELP

Who here has WORLD CUP FEVER? banana.gif I think most of us have a team in the competition which starts on Friday. Hope you all enjoy it! And sorry +Ed+, you must be gutted Russia didn't make it - I know how it feels as we missed out on the last European Championships.

Seems World Cup Fever has spread to the animal kingdom too!

I definitely still do have it. I really started beleiving in my team only 2 years ago, when half of my club was in it and they tore everyone on their way to bronze.

For now I will as stated earlier support the Dutchies and keep an eye on the Brits.

Please tell me you're not talking about the vuvuzela? If that thing escapes South Africa and makes it way into European football I just may need to stop watching football all together.

haha...i've been attending football matches here in SA since I was 5 years old - and I can tell you the vuvuzela takes some getting used to!

Just as a matter of dutchies interest, got tickets for Monday's game at Soccer City (Holland v Denmark - Road trip to Johannesburg with some buds) and then off to Holland v Japan in Durban on 19th with my wife!

Donning my orange afro and have my dutch flag and 'Bergkamp 10' Holland shirt!

This place has gone football mental! Been hanging out with some Aussies down here in my hometown and one is a mad LIVE fan! Gave 'em a taste of TGF as well - positive responses so far!

It's going to be a magic 30 or so days! Very excited now!

The vibe is intense.

What times are the games in your part of the world?

Games in Perth, Australia start at:

7:30pm
10:00pm
2:30am

Not too bad actually. I get to watch two games a night and be in bed by midnight. Of course as the tournament progresses most of the good games are at 2:30am so it's going to be a looong night...

Did they televise the Kick Off Concert overseas last night? Who watched?

After fighting my way through the WC traffic (Yep, I live in Johannesburg) I must admit that
tired as I was, this did give me quite a lump in my throat:

Waka Waka

I'm feeling proudly South African right now.

Bring on the world cup. We are SO ready for this! Traffic is a nightmare. Let's get this overwith!

Great opening game, don't think ive ever seen a better opening goal! Think a draw was a fair result on balance. Hope Uruguay beat France tonight and tomorrow it's the big one. Come on you Three Lions! bounce.gif

I'd like to have a vuvuzela burning party.

They've been blaring outside my house since 5am!

Then all through the first match - hey - we drew 1 all with mexico - and I can hear the sound of those VZ's still as I type this.

Eventually.....you beome immune to the sound.
