Yea where is the thread on the new Live newsletter. That must have been another gracious favor from TGF to Ed.

I am glad one of my threads has sparked such a fun debate!

Kind of agreed. Been following the board for 10+ years. Dont see the constant need for animosity towards one another, judgements on what kind of people each other are, and ripping on anyone who likes ed / tgf.

I never said I liked it, just that the reason why it exists is not too hard to figure out.

Its the internet, if you expect rational discussion look elsewhere. smile.gif

Seen it for many years. Still dont get it though. Been following these guys, and of course lurking on all the boards, since MJ was released. Damn I feel old now..

How did fans communicate online in 92? Was the Live mailing list working back then or did you use newsgroups?

Jeez I'd guess Live didn't have much of an official online presence til live.cerf.net when advertised in the SS sleeve.

Deumn, you beat me to it, Dan!

The first band in the world to gain online representation was Depeche Mode with their official site in 1997

I remember visiting Live's official web site ( http://live.cerf.net ) in 1996 and I think it may have even been running before then.

Here's what it looked like in December 1996.

Not sure what you mean by online representation...MTV had an AOL keyword with sections for bands. You could definitely buy CDs online in 1995 at AOL keyword: Blockbuster

haha I hadn't seen it in that primitive state, though 97 was pretty similar. I creamed my pants when they had LMW in the audio section

These fans come lately. *I've* been following LIVE since they were embryos and the only computers were at NASA. I wasn't even born yet, but I knew even then that I would be a fan. hoppy.gif

Online in 92... not a clue! live.cerf.net was the first I remember, but I dont recall the dates for that, mid 90's maybe?? Back in the early 90's we just listened to the radio, watched MTV (back when they actually played music videos), went to concerts, and searched for albums/bootlegs in those old things called record stores.
