QUOTE(Pokey @ May 30 2010, 11:08 am) *

To me Believe didn't work .. I really loved the music (and hence love Honest Man), but the music just didn't fit with Ed's lyrics. It sounded like CT had written the music and Ed then tried to fit the music over the top of it rather than it all having been written together. So to me it was a sign that the writing process had just totally broken down in one way or another and wasn't working.

Maybe this is what happened with Believe but at least it was not written exclusively by Ed. Believe was a good song but TGF made it excellent.

A master piece of crap, Sonic. When I heard of the split, I thought about what made me like Live and ultimately what drove me away. The band was always amazing, and Eds anger and passion were like no one elses at the time. Early 2000, all of my friends would say that the music kicks ass, but couldn't get past the singer. Falsetto Eddie K and my fiancee at the time making fun that I was going to see the shirtless guy who gyrates and sings like a woman were enough to make me reconsider my allegiance. Im glad to see both parties go the way that they chose, and am even happier that the boys of TGF will kick ass once again. Railo sucks forever!

I think a lot of people got annoyed that his playing (albeit good) started to be more than complimentary. It was used for parts of TDTH which needed it, however when it started being heard over the guitar & bass parts....Lakini's, WD, I for one threw up. Poor Pat, once Railo's keyboards were turned up in higher in late 2000, Pat looked totally disinterested and folks had a tough time hearing him at all. I think it was more of Ed's influence on the direction again, although they went along with it.

LJ on that one is very good, Ed's lyrics were cracking on it though. Railo drowned out Chad T in the middle parts...but it was expansive to say the least. This one, Pat was very audible.

Best Heropsychodreamer with Railo on record. Can't believe admitted he forgot the lyrics.....song was only 4 years old at that point

At Woodstock 99 I wanted to drop into the mud puddle at my feet and die when CT's riff started Lakinis Juice and the keyboard effects came in. I was horrified.

Classic. This just sums up just about every guys reason for going elsewhere when it comes to Eddie K. I think the only guy around here who actually likes shirtless Ed gyrating around is Nick.

In the US it is a crapshoot between the two artists. The name recognition that Ed has being the frontman of Live is stronger than Kevin Martin has with Candlebox. However, The Gracious Few have built in fans from both Live and Candlebox, so that could make up for it a bit. They are both on indie labels, so it is anyones guess who will be more success.

Overseas, Ed has a built in following and overall will find more success. He has has major tours planned for Europe, Brazil, Australia, among others. Because of that fact alone Ed will be more successful than TGF.

Ed does have stronger recognition than Kevin. Probably because Kevin isn't a doucher that selfishly put himself before Candlebox as Ed did with Live.

Live had the support of a major label in Australia, and gained success through that. For a US band to tour Australia it costs A LOT of money. That was the main reason that Live never returned once they went indie, they were going to have to foot their own bill for an Aussie tour.

It is going to be tough for TGF to make it to Australia at all. Many established bands haven't ever reached the continenent just because they can't afford to take the loss.

I am pretty sure Kevin's wife is Australian. I don't know if that makes them more likely to tour there.

More likely because Candlebox was more of a niche band in the 90's and didn't have near the same fanbase or success as Live did.

And what niche is that?
