There, there. The foreword was definitely shot in Amsterdam. But then the square definitely does not look like the Dam.
It would have been much better if he really was walking down the street, maybe even crashing into the people going ther ways. Then the angry face of his would be justified on stage.

But then people would be accusing of copying Rob Thomas. laugh.gif And that would be not quite fair because walking into people on street in videos has been done a fair bit. Didn't The Verve do it a long time ago? That was the first time I can recall seeing it - but that was for sure not the first time someone did it.

To me his voice here is better than any of the early years anyway he didn't have half the range back then that he has now. I'm not sure if he's had some vocal coaching or just doing a lot more practice but if only he did his acoustic shows now and not 12 months ago they would be of a much much higher standard.

Someone used to tell me that vocalists just got better as they got older. I'm not sure that's true. I think it takes coaching.

What can I say,I like it. Didn't think I would...
I like the way his voice explodes into the chorus,it's when he's at his best...bit like the old days.

The video is ok,better than the last few he ruined in Live.

I like most of Ed's music but not this video. It just seems awkward to me, all of his facial expressions and being angry for seemingly no reason. I would have enjoyed it more if it was just an on-stage performance or had some narrative element to it with other actors. I guess since it's his first single going solo he has to be front and center in it so people recognize him. Maybe the next video will do more of the other stuff. Zion could have a damn cool video if done right, but he'll probably pick Drink for the next single. uhoh.gif

It depends on how solid your technique is in the beginning and how well you take care of your voice throughout your career.

There's really no way to make a blanket statement about it.

Bittersweet Symphony. But if you compare the songs and then the video style, Bittersweet is definitely better suited to the 'walking down a street' thing. Even the way he walks, it was apt! I know there are many times after seeing the video and hearing the song, when I walked down busy streets, avoiding people on a chilly windy day, Bittersweet Symphony was a song I remember humming to myself!

But, I'm a bit mental. huh.gif

Isn't there a bit in Bittersweet Symphony where he bangs into some guy and it looks like the guy is going to come after him? Or am I thinking of something else?
But the even the jacket in Bent is similar: http://new.music.yahoo.com/Matchbox-Twenty...w/Bent--2144515

I wouldn't call this a proper music video as such. It's a bit of recorded performance with some walking around pickups mixed in. There's no "concept" as it were. No story, or anything unique to the video itself.

That said, some nice little effects and tricks - I even like the colour tone of the whole thing. Ed looks a bit weird in that outfit though. Think it's the jeans and sneakers he's wearing. Looks like he's trying to be younger than he actually is.

i dont think there's one Live video that doesnt have ed kowalczyk pulling strange faces, which was kind of the appeal of their videos back in their day. Im glad for ed that this video looks more pro than forever, and it should do well in the market he's aiming for. Just wish the song was more interesting.

They look like Koi Carp to me (the whiskers/barbels give it away), though it is a vague rendition of them.

I've just seen the video and it actually made me incredibly sad. Watching the video was the musical equivalent of seeing an ex that you adored and spent a few years with. You pass them in the street and have a heart stabbing pang of sadness as you momentarily remember the reasongs you were once madly in love with them. Then you remember your lives have gone in different directions, you are different people now and are no more than strangers to each other.

Though it's not my thing at all, I dont actually think the song is that bad - it's just not up to Ed's best, which I think he's proved is behind him by quite a few years now. I'm afraid the passionate and angry Ed most of us were drawn to Live's music by is dead. He died about a decade ago and slowly got replaced by happy clappy Christian Rocks Stepford Ed.
